A Perfect Day in Vicenza, Italy

A Perfect Day in Vicenza, Italy

Zaddie Arnold
Vicenza, the hidden gem of Northern Italy, holds a special place in my heart—my husband and I lived here for three wonderful years, and it’s a place we’ll never forget. Known as the “City of Palladio,” Vicenza is a dream destination for those who love Renaissance beauty, rich history, and a café culture that will captivate you from dawn to dusk. Whether you're an architecture buff, a foodie, or just someone looking for an authentic Italian experience, Vicenza has it all. Here’s how I recommend spending an unforgettable day in this charming city: Note: This itinerary can be made dog-friendly! You can visit all the places listed, but pets are not allowed inside any of the museums. However, don’t be disappointed—each stop is just as stunning from the outside as it is on the inside! Plus, all the restaurants, hotels, and bars included in this itinerary are dog-friendly, so your furry companion can join you throughout the day.

Morning: Savor the Charm of Vicenza’s Cafés and Historical Gems

Start Your Day with an Italian Coffee

Begin your adventure in the enchanting city of Vicenza with a strong Italian espresso or a creamy cappuccino at Caffetteria Bar Pigafetta. Located just a stone’s throw from the historic center, this local favorite boasts a cozy vibe, perfect for kicking off your day with a warm drink and a delectable pastry. The friendly baristas will make you feel like you’re part of the neighborhood!

On a warm day I recommend ordering a Shakerato and any of their pastries. A Shakerato is a shaken iced espresso (no milk) and you can ask for it sweetened. It is a great way to cool off and caffeinate when its warm out. If you love Pistachio's then you have to order a Pistachio Croissant. The croissant are fluffy and freshly stuffed with a delicious real pistachio cream.

Visit Teatro Olimpico

Olympic Theater
@zaddie
You can buy your tickets in front of the theater and they are totally worth the price. I recommend paying 20euro and getting the Vicenza Card. The Vicenza card will allow you entrance into 10 sites in Vicenza. The Museum Card enables entrance to Teatro Olimpico, Palazzo Chiericati Art Gallery, Natural History Museum, Church of Santa Corona, Risorgimento and Resistance Museum, Galleries of Palazzo Thiene, Diocesan Museum, Palladio Museum, Galleries of Palazzo Leoni Montanari, Basilica Palladiana, Jewellery Museum. It is valid for 8 days.

After your invigorating coffee, make your way to Teatro Olimpico, one of the world’s oldest indoor theaters. Designed by the renowned architect Andrea Palladio, this architectural marvel will leave you in awe with its stunning design and intricate details. Don’t miss the wooden stage and the incredible scenery—it’s like stepping into a living painting!
