๐ฆ๐ท Buenos Aires: Top Sights & Hidden Gems
Welcome to Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital and largest city, often called the 'Paris of South America' for its European-style architecture. In some streets, you might forget you're in South America! Youโll enjoy the city's unique arts scene and the locals' passionate nature, especially when it comes to football and dance. Another common nickname for Buenos Aires is 'BA'.
If thereโs one iconic landmark you must check off your bucket list as a top priority, itโs definitely the majestic Obelisco! Built in 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the city's founding, the tall monument is located at the heart of the city center.
Once you've seen the giant monument, you can go explore the vibrant neighborhood of Palermo, one of the city's largest and most vibrant districts. Palermo is known for its trendy shops, beautiful parks, numerous restaurants, and booming nightlife.ย
Most tourists and expats choose accommodation in this neighborhood to be close to the main attractions and bars. I recommend you do the same. Like many visitors, this was my favorite neighborhood in BA.
Don't miss walking around the various areas, like Palermo Hollywood, Palermo Viejo, and Palermo Sohoโthereโs so much to explore!
