Salzburg is one of my favorite places in Europe. I've been several times, and every visit I eat my weight in schnitzel and all the other Austrian goodies!Â
Typical Foods to TryÂ
Nockerl is part soufflé and part meringue – somehow light and fluffy while still being incredibly filling. It’s often but not always served with a raspberry sauce on the bottom. Most traditionally it's served as three peaks, but if they offer a smaller one with only one peak, order that - it's still plenty for 2-3 people!
Kasnocken feels like the local version of spatzle - it's tiny potato dumplings topped with cheese and crispy onions. Probably my favorite vegetarian option.Â
