Gabby's Guide to... Costa Rica! 🇨🇷

Gabby @packslight
So, you're heading to Costa Rica! I recently spent a week exploring this beautiful country, and am ready to share the experiences beyond the pretty pictures! My trip was centered around "getting off of the beaten path", Black-ancestry in Costa Rica, and of course some of the staple experiences like waterfalls, hot springs, and ziplining! You trust me enough to buy this guide, so you're officially my friend. And as my friend, I'm giving you all access to my private "Saved" list on Google Maps. This guide includes 👉 6-day guide: San Jose → La Fortuna → Puerto Viejo → Cahuita → Manzanillo 👉 Activities and experiences to make your trip memorable 👉 5 accommodation recommendations 👉 Instagrammable spots to liven up your feed 👉 Cultural experiences that you'll never forget 🙏🏽 My honest experiences, opinions, and reviews of each suggestion!

Costa Rica is a beautiful country located between Nicaragua and Panama in Central America. There is so much to see and experience here, from lush rainforests to stunning beaches to diverse flora, fauna, and wildlife.

Spanish is the official language of the country, but don't let that scare you! Many people in Costa Rica speak English and those who don't will often go above and beyond to help you. Before you go, learn a few important words and phrases in Spanish anyway-- the effort is always appreciated.

Costa Rica is also a great spot for adventure travelers, with endless opportunities for white water rafting, canopy tours, scuba diving and snorkeling, surfing, zip-lining, and more.

Day 1: San José

🇨🇷 Welcome to Costa Rica!

After landing in San Jose, grab an airport taxi to your hotel. In San Jose, I recommend the Studio Hotel—it's an easy landing pad that offers breakfast, a rooftop, a swimming pool, and it's located within walking distance of a laundromat and grocery store!

Hi, I’m Gabby 👋🏽 I own Packs Light and am a full-time digital nomad from the United States. I've touched 55+ countries, and I'm a true lover of immersive, cultural, and adventurous travel experiences! 🪂 I was born in California but moved around often thanks to my parents—dad was in the military, mom was a travel agent. Thanks to my nomadic childhood I became confident in navigating this world (even as a young, Black, curly-haired sassy little girl!) At age 17 I went on my first solo trip to backpack Iceland. At age 21 I studied abroad in Dubai, UAE for 9 months. And by age 24 had completely abandoned my budding engineering career to pursue my dream of being a full-time travel influencer! Now I have experience in 50+ countries and 6 continents, have accumulated 800,000 followers, and have a lifetime of tips, trips, stories, and recommendations to share. I love helping others see the world. I love helping people explore past the first page of Google. And I love turning travel bucket lists into exciting stories to impress your friends and family at the dinner table. Follow me, and let me guide you through your next trip!
