Overview

Weather & Packing

The weather in March in Hungary is unpredictable. It can be still quite cold during the day (40-50 degrees) and the sharp wind often makes the air even chillier than it is. So do bring warm clothes, a light coat, sweater, cap, and dress in layers. In some years it can even snow. *Don't forget your swimming suit for the thermal baths!

Currency & Exchange

As of January 2025 $10 USD = 4,034.70 HUF (Hungarian Fornit).

Some tourist spots might accept Euros but maybe don’t bank on in. Pun intended. Cards are widely accepted (with Venture X no currency exchange fees).

• For markets, tips, entry fees to baths, public transport, or smaller vendors, cash is preferred.• ATMs may charge a small fee or you can use the app to find ATMs with no fees using ATM Fee Saver app. ATMs can also offer currency conversion options such as ‘With Conversion’/’Accept Conversion’ or ‘Without Conversion’/’Decline Conversion’. To avoid optional extra fees, select ‘Without Conversion’ or ‘Decline Conversion’.
