GRÜß GOTT! Just because you are spending your holiday in Bavaria; it doesn't mean you have to survive only on beers, cakes, and pork knuckles.
No Munich has a thriving alternative, vegan, and bar scene!
# What You get #
An exhaustive list of my favorite spots for:
- Vegan Specialities
- Trendy Bars
- Non-German Food
This list is the culmination of four years of exploring in Munich. From scouring blogs to trying the recommendations of our local friends, we frequent all these locations often, so rest assured that these spots are quality and authentic. Hell, you might even see us there. 😊
Additionally, each recommendation has a paragraph description with my tips and tricks, and personal anecdotes based on years of experience living in this city.
# Important Note #
All of these recommendations are also available in my Ultimate Munich Food Guide! So if this guide, and a couple of others, have your fancy then it'll cheaper for you to buy that guide instead.

Alternative Trendy Bars!
Beer gardens are great, but lets be honest, they close way too early. So where should you head after your first few rounds of Augustiner?

MS Utting on bridge Lagerhausstrasse
@NearFromHome
Although Alte Utting is a little outside the Munich centre city, offers an edgy drinking scene not easily found in Munich. (We‘re not Berlin). This bar complex features a former steamer ship, turned bar and events location. The old vessel is suspended on a defunct pedestrian bridge spanning Lagerhausstraße. Complete with seating in the boat, on the bridge around the boat, and a beer garden on the ground under the boat, there are tons of seating options to fit your mood. In addition to drinks, there are also a few stands in the beer garden offering pizza, paste, crepes, and other dishes. I would recommend only visiting in the warmer months, as I think this venue soars when patrons can take advantage of the outdoor seating. Alte Utting is also down the street from Drei Mühlen, and could provide a great after dinner bar.
Personal Anecdote: I discovered this place when my friends threw their their joint birthday party in the Yurt in the beer garden.
