When to visit

High season in the islands is from mid-June to mid-September. This is peak tourist season - higher prices and more crowds; though more ferry and flight options, warmer waters and lots of sun. This is a great time for a classic beach vacation, though be prepared for many tourists.

If you’re looking to avoid most of the summer crowds, consider planning travel during the shoulder season from April to June and September to October. The heat is less intense and allows for more active hiking and exploring. Though, be mindful that by late October, ferry service and flights may start to cut back, and some island businesses may close for the winter.

I visited in early September and highly recommend this time of year.

Getting around

The best way to get between each island is to take the ferries. Plan in advance and check the schedules as timetables adjust depending on each season.

You can easily book and keep track of all your ferry trips throughout the islands via the Ferryhopper app.
