* If you're traveling from the United States as a U.S. citizen, a passport is not required for entry into the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, ensure you have a valid ID for your return journey.

* St. Thomas does not offer Uber or Lyft services. While taxis are available, they often accept cash only and can be pricey. Renting a car is highly recommended as the most convenient mode of transportation, especially considering the island's steep hills and winding roads. I personally reserved a Jeep vehicle with Economy Rent-A-Car, but there are numerous rental companies on the island, so be sure to compare rates for the best deal.

* The official currency of the U.S. Virgin Islands is the United States Dollar (USD). Most businesses accept major credit cards, but it's always handy to have some cash on hand for smaller transactions.

* St. Thomas has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. Be prepared for occasional rain showers, especially during the hurricane season from late August to November.
