5 Places to stay in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
One of the most popular hotels located in the Pétion-Ville suburb of Juvenat. Rooms are nicely decorated and clean, and I've always had a pleasant experience with the front desk staff. They do have a restaurant on site, as well as a rooftop bar which can get quite lively. You'll also enjoy their pool with poolside service, as well as tennis courts and onsite spa.
Located in what some would call the center of Pétion-Ville, the original hotel is famous for its gingerbread style and location in the bustling Place St. Pierre. Around it you will find local artists, restaurants, shops and the church, Eglise St. Pierre. The hotel did build a more modern addition a few years ago so now travelers have the choice to room either in their gingerbread style or modern. Either way, the hotel is beautifully decorated, hosting a pool, restaurant, lounge and café. On the modern side, you can even find a few retail shops to enjoy.
Though the original hotel was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake, it has come back with full force and color. Their new rooms are bright and cheerful and their location offers amazing views of Port-au-Prince. They have a great breakfast selection and host many events/conferences. Here you can also enjoy the pool, tennis courts and as an added bonus, yoga.
Located in Pétion-Ville and surrounded by a variety of restaurants and shops, I have yet to have the pleasure of actually staying at this hotel. I have been there in my youth for parties and later on for events and the hotel is quite lovely. Recently renovated in 2013, friends who have stayed have nothing but glowing reviews for this hotel. El Rancho also has its own restaurant and onsite pool.
Tucked a way in a Pétion-Ville neighborhood, Villa Therese hosts lovely grounds and an inviting pool. Its rooms are simple, but clean and a quick walk to the main street will open up a variety of restaurants, stores and shops to indulge in.
