Bari

For years Bari was just a place you passed through on your way to other destinations in the region. Things have changed in the past 10 or so years, and it has now become a destination for anyone making their way to the heel of the boot.
The city is divided in two parts: the newer one (known as Murat and organized in a grid like-manner), and the old part (known as Bari Vecchia and similar to a maze of small alleys). Most of the great restaurants and bars are in the newer part of town since the older part has become slightly touristy (a lot of airbnb’s have popped up over the years)
There is plenty to do in Bari, but even more to eat! Various cultures have influenced it’s cuisine over the centuries (think Spanish and Greeks), and you can find anything from fresh seafood, street food carts, vegetables for every season and delicious focaccia straight out of the oven. Al Pescatore

My favorite restaurant for seafood in Bari. Have a seat and ask for a mixture of starters (that’s what the local do). The waiter will ask you if you also want some ‘crudi’, which means raw seafood. Bari is known for this, so if you like that sort of stuff pelase try it! Depending on the catch of the day, you might get raw mussels, raw squid, oysters, sea urchins and much more.

Urban l' assassineria urbana

Spaghetti all'Assassina have become a symbol of Bari and this place is solely focused on that very special dish. They serve the classic with tomato sauce and hot pepper, but also more contemporary takes with burrata and cime di rapa

Ai 2 Ghiottoni

One of the most famous restaurants in Bari, it is a little more expensive than others but worth it if you only have a few nights or celebrating a special occasion. They have absolutely incredible seafood, but I also come here for everything else (they make some of the best orecchiette con le cime di rapa in town!). Excellent service

Al Sorso Preferito
@sophieminchilli
This is one of those old fashioned restaurants that has my heart: I used to come here for Sunday lunch with all my family, and some of the waiters have been here ever since. Same owner, same menu, same chef. They invented the famous 'spaghetti all'assassina' which have become a symbol of Bari. Make sure to also order their mixed starters, they are never ending and so delicious!

Per...Bacco

Right off the Lungomare, this restaurant is a homage to Pugliese cuisine with fresh seafood, local produce and an extensive wine list. Try their Ocrtopus with fava puree and spaghetti con pesto di finocchio selvatico
