Three Weeks in Vietnam

Vietnam is an incredible backpacking destination. It's varied landscapes, friendly locals, delicious food scene, and affordability make it ideal for budget travellers. In this three-week itinerary I'll share my top destinations, attractions, transport options, and my personal favourite places to stay and eat.

Introduction:

Hi! I'm Danika, a 32 year old traveller from Canada. I have spent the past 12 years travelling all over Southeast Asia, and I'm currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. I spent two months travelling through Vietnam and I instantly fell in love with this country. The street food is incredible, the local people are kind, the country is safe for solo travellers, and transportation is easy to navigate. In this guide you'll find my suggested route for a three week trip, alongside my personal suggestions for where to stay, where to eat, and what to see.

Day 1-3: Ho Chi Minh City

Transportation

You'll likely arrive here by plane, landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Pick up a SIM card here in the arrivals hall, or download an e-SIM ahead of time.

This airport gets quite chaotic, and you need to be aware of potential taxi scams. To avoid being overcharged I recommend downloading the Grab app. Grab works similarly to Uber. You can call a taxi using the app and the price is pre-determined so you'll know what you will pay up front- the best way to avoid scams.
