Introduction?

Welcome to Korcula Island, a hidden gem nestled along the stunning Adriatic coast of Croatia. This enchanting island, reputed to be the birthplace of famed explorer Marco Polo, offers a perfect blend of rich history, captivating architecture, and breathtaking natural beauty. Whether you're exploring its charming Old Town, indulging in delicious local cuisine, or lounging on pristine beaches, Korcula promises an unforgettable day or week trip experience that will leave you yearning for more.

Where is Korcula?

Korcula Island is located in the Adriatic Sea, off the southern coast of Croatia. It is part of the Dalmatian archipelago and is situated approximately 120 km northwest of Dubrovnik. The island is easily accessible from various ports in Croatia, making it a convenient destination for both locals and tourists alike.

How to get to Korcula?

From Dubrovnik:

Another Option is TP Line (which is the line that my friend and I took when visiting), other options are found using this website below:

You can also just take a day trip via a tour from Dubrovnik if you don't want to plan your own day!

From Split:

Traveling from Split to Korcula by ferry offers a scenic experience. The journey duration can vary from three to four hours, depending on the ferry and the routes. Again, Jadrolinija operates several ferries connecting Split and Korcula, with multiple departures per week during the peak season. The ferries generally depart from Split's main port and arrive at Vela Luka or Korcula Town. As with the Dubrovnik route, it's crucial to check the ferry schedule beforehand and arrive early to secure your tickets if you don't buy them in advance.

Please use the above booking sites to book your ferry! Since Split is much further from the island there isn't many day trips to the area.

When to visit Korcula?

⏰Time of year? Korcula Island is a destination that can be visited throughout the year, but the best time to visit depends on your preferences and the activities you plan to engage in. Summer (June to August) is typically the peak tourist season, characterized by warmer temperatures and a vibrant atmosphere. Spring (April-May) and Fall (September to October) are considered the shoulder seasons, offering a pleasant climate and fewer crowds compared to summer.

⏱️Time of day? The earlier the better BUT most cafes and museums don't open until 8-9am.
