Quick Eats

Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur

This is a MUST visit stop for any true foodie visiting Iceland. You will hear it 100 times, and your gonna hear it from me again. YOU MUST STOP HERE. Don't forget to get the dog with everything on it for the full experience. Sometimes the line can be a bit of a wait, but its so worth it. Great stop for a quick lunch while exploring the city. Or if you are like me it was a quick stop for lunch one day... and then the next day....and then....

Hlöllabátar
@ThePracticedPassport
We were lucky as this restaurant was situated right outside of our hotel. However don't let its convenient location fool you. The food is fast, easy, and another great stop for quick lunch in the city. You will find many restaurants fill up quickly, or require a reservation. So having a quick and easy stop option is always a good idea!

Traditional Icelandic

Seabaron
@ThePracticedPassport
This traditional Icelandic restaurant is situated right next to the bay making it the perfect stop off. The small and cozy restaurants menu is simple, but oh so good. It features various fish which you select and it is then grilled for you! If you go here however beware... the langoustine (Lobster) soup is addictive and a must try. The best one we had in Iceland.

Café Loki
@ThePracticedPassport
Best place to stop off for a quick Icelandic meal. Try to make a reservation if you can, as we had a small wait for a table, but you can always wing it and wait a bit! It doesn't hurt that the view near by is amazing, as the restaurant is located right next to Hallgrimskirkja church! We had smashed fish and rye bread ice cream, both were very good! If you are brave this is one location you can get the legendary Hakarl (fermented shark).

Íslenski barinn
@ThePracticedPassport
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The food was great, the wait staff was awesome. We didn't come in with a reservation, but were able to sit at the bar. I recommend trying to get a reservation if possible. This place makes a perfect stop off at the end of the day for a nice dinner and drink. I had the langoustine (lobster) hot dog which was excellent. Highly recommend for slightly off kilter traditional Icelandic food.

Perfect Dinner Stop

101 Bistro
@ThePracticedPassport
We fell in love with this little café. It was such a great setting for a little date night. The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing and it was easy to get in and out of there. We did not have a reservation, however it was not busy. Servers were excellent, would recommend and would go back, 10/10.

Public House Gastropub
@ThePracticedPassport
We stopped here for lunch and had the lamb sandwich. It was absolutely perfect, tender juicy, a slightly bigger portion than needed which is why I would recommend it for a dinner rather than a lunch stop off. All the food we had was excellent, although a little pricier it was worth it!!!

Tres Locos
@ThePracticedPassport
Now I know what your thinking... Mexican food... in Iceland. But it was SO GOOD. Make a reservation as it gets busy and I promise you it will be the perfect dinner. It is an Icelandic twist on traditional Mexican food. Bewear the taco plate is quite small, but many other dishes on the menu are a normal sized dinner entrée!

Breakfast of Champions

The Laundromat Cafe
@ThePracticedPassport
This was a great little breakfast stop off. They brought us in, and sat us down, then ordering is up to you! You scan a menu and check out on their website, but don't worry they have free and reliable wifi. It was nice being able to order a second drink or more to eat when you want to and not worry about a server! The breakfast was awesome, and something we were hard pressed to find in Reykjavik that didn't break the bank. But this place ticked all the boxes!
