Florence in 3 Days Itinerary, by a Local
Martina Bartolozzi
Available for hire
These are my best recommendations for an off-the-beaten path 3 day trip to Florence, based on my lifetime of experience as someone who was born and raised here.
This itinerary and interactive digital map are meant to help you explore Florence through the eyes of a local, as these locations are ones I visit regularly.
No transportation required, every location is reachable on foot.
What you'll find:
- 11 restaurants, cafes, cocktail bars and more, and recommendations for what to order;
- 7 different activities and shops, you know: so you have something to do while you digest your food between meals!
Follow it exactly, take what you need, or check out my "Custom Italy Services" board for custom recommendations and other services.
Don't forget to save ☑️ this map for future use!

I strongly recommend making reservations and booking tickets in advance when possible, or at least giving a call on the day-of because business opening hours might vary.

Morning
Especially if this is your first day in the country and you're suffering from a bit of jet lag, it is fundamental that we get some of that famous Italian espresso ☕️ in your body ASAP!
Ditta Artigianale, Sant'Ambrogio
@MementoMartina
Florentine born-and-bred specialty coffee roaster and coffee shop + brunch and aperitivo spot.
The biggest out of four Ditta Artigianale in Florence (plus there’s one in Toronto, Canada).
This is where you’ll find excellent ethically sourced coffee (try their “Mamma Mia” blend) but also American-style food and drink, for example: pumpkin spice lattes, ooey-gooey chocolate cake, and the occasiona crab roll with sweet potato fries.
Come for the coffee, stay for the free Wi-Fi (except on weekends, when it's super busy, or over lunch if you're not planning on eating).
Sant’Ambrogio location 2021 winner best Interior Design of Food and Wine Italia awards.
From their website:
Ditta Artigianale was founded in 2013 by Francesco Sanapo, world-renowned barista and coffee taster champion, and by Patrick Hoffer, after long studies and extensive research around the world on the different ways of interpreting coffee,. Our main aim and mission is to bring to Italy high quality coffees, and to describe them in a brand new way, by focusing on the total transparency and eco-sustainability in, and for, all the different production steps.

Ditta Artigianale sits somewhere between a traditional Italian bar and a more international-feeling cafè, so it's a great stepping stone for your first day here.
It's also one of the few cafes with free wifi, and is conveniently located near our next stop.
