The Market Building has a food hall that is open 7 days a week! If you are there on a Saturday, check out the Shed for a great farmers market!

We got there around 7:30am and were 16th in line. They open at 11am. You can also purchase beer there around 9/10am. You have to go here and you have to try the brisket!

For most of these BBQ places you could be waiting in line for up to 5 hours. It is best to bring a good lawn chair and maybe a cooler with beverages! Also, don't forget your passport, you can go to Mexico through Big Bend! We have done this adventure in mid October. 

Snow's is about an hour from Austin and two and half hours from Dallas.

They are only open on Saturdays at 8am. You have to get there really early to get a good spot in line. We got there are 3am and were 36th in line. The potato salad, brisket, and chicken are a must have!  They also have a tip bar that opens at 7:00am. 

We got in at 8am and were 3rd in line, most of the crowd showed up between 9-10am 

The Salt Lick is about 30min South West of Austin. There is no wait in line and have really good plate options. 

Big Bend is a 7.5hr drive from Austin but definitely worth the drive with beautiful sunsets, vegetation, and lots of hikes!  

This Trail is 4.8 miles, it is a great trail to do at sunrise or sunset! It is a very popular trail so parking might be tricky. 

Beautiful place to camp with close access to a couple of trails. 

Great for a sunset hike, you can also do the loop from the Chisos Basin Visitor Center

You can travel to Mexico from Big Bend down by the Rio Grande Village. You will need your passport to get across. You can walk the river across when the river is low, or pay $5 a person RT to get rowed across in the boat. You can walk to Boquillas which is 1/2-3/4 mile or you can get a guide with a burro for $10 RT. 

The guide will give you a tour of the town and a little history. There are two restaurants there, so we recommend eating while there as well. The city only takes cash(American $$ works as well) There are also lots of little stands to get a souvenir from!  

This trail is really awesome as a tour for the vegetation with information guides along the trail. The trail could be tricky to get to if the river is up.  

We stopped here on our way to Big Bend. They have great pastries and fun coffee options!

The bats are usually come out right around dusk or shortly after. When we went it was October and they came out a little after dusk around 745PM.  Parking can be spendy in the parking lot, but it is a nice place to walk around. There are also boat tours and rentals around! 

A must try in Texas, our favorite was spinach and feta!

They have great baked goods and fun seasonal items. The line moves pretty fast and it is definitely worth the wait! We tried the oatmeal cream pie, lemon cupcake, and the cheddar biscuit. They are all delicious and we regret not getting a dozen biscuits though! 

This is a fun place to wander around; they have lots of food trucks, picnic area, and a a few stores you can shop and get some fun stuff!

This is the second largest canyon in the U.S. and a must stop. We did the lighthouse trail and it gives you great viewpoints!

Another good BBQ place to stop and eat at, we got ribs, brisket, and a sandwich! Stop by here after hiking at Palo Duro!
