Transport yourself to a different, simpler time where gondola rides were the primary mode of transportation and wearing masks was a festival event. Venezia is one of the more famous places in Italia, and for good reason. Below, you will find a list of places to enjoy it fully.

According to the locals I spoke with, the months of April-June and September-October are the best times to be here. If you wait too long and stay in July-August, you will be experiencing the blistering heat of Venezia, which is also when you will be bombarded by crowds everywhere you go. Additionally, November-January is prone to flooding in certain areas.

To get the most out of Venezia and surrounding islands, I would recommend a stay of at least 4-5 days. That will allow you to experience this region fully and slowly. 

Europe is known for its public transportation, and Venezia is no different. However, due to this iconic place being an island, it looks a little different. Water transportation is going to be your best friend while here.

- 👣 Walking: The cheapest, and often most rewarding, form of transportation out there! It's easy to hit that 10,000-step goal here!

- 🚲 Bicycle / Scooter Rental: Not an option on the islands with all of the bridges, but on the mainland, you can rent bikes and scooters to zip through the Mestre area and take in all the sites.

- 🚋 ACTV Bus: Not on the islands, but on the mainland, you can get a ride within Mestre, or to Mestre from the island.

- 🚌 Bus: Different from the city buses, you can use companies like Flixbus to get to surrounding areas from the mainland. It is typical to find a bus ticket to other cities in Northern Italy for under 10€.

- 🚊 Train: This option is reserved for distances farther than 100km typically. Trenitalia and Italo are some of the most popular lines and are usually quite reasonable in price. You can download the phone apps and easily purchase your ticket on your phone and show your QR-code when prompted. 

- 🛶 Gondola: The iconic, scenic tour of Venezia occurs on none other than gondolas. Not part of regular transportation anymore, but a tourist experience you won't want to miss.

- ⛴️ Vaporetto: A water bus option, being the primary mode of public transportation in Venezia, are water buses that operate along the Grand Canal to surrounding islands. Without over 20 routes, you are sure to get to your destination. You can purchase 75-minute tickets, or multi-day passes for 1, 2, 3, and 7 days.

- 🚤 Water Taxi: For a customized, private experience, you can hire a water taxi for fast and personal service. The price is the steepest of all options, but great for larger groups or intimate exploring.

- ⛴️ Alilaguna: Another water shuttle service, exclusively for Marco Polo Airport to Venezia and other islands, such as Murano and Lido. There are four main lines, designated by colors, that will connect you for a one-way or round-trip fee.

- 🛶 Traghetto: A cheaper version of the famous Grand Canal ride, is on a gondola ferry, shared with others to cross to the next point.

- 🚝 People Mover: Also known as the Monorail, this is a quick monorail system connecting Venezia's Tronchetto parking island with Piazzale Roma and cruise port.
