Cafés

Café Piha - Torréfacteur - Boutique

the vibes are hereee for studying. Chill background music, light chatter and yummy coffee. And aesthetically pleasing. To keep in mind: - no wifi! pre-download anything you need to do or make sure you have a hotspot/ - no laptops on weekends

Cafeincup
@sam_gzzo
my personal favorite for studying! super laptop friendly and perfect vibes to get anything done with a cup of yummy coffee. However, I also love that there is a mix of people working and others simply stopping to grab brunch or a goûter :)

Bradley's Bookshop
@sam_gzzo
for my book readers + coffee drinkers, this is the place to be. Keep in mind, these are books only in English (which is great for some) but coffee and pastries are also available to have while taking a break or reading/studying! I recommend for quieter, calm vibes to study

Crêpes

La crêpe funky Bordeaux
@sam_gzzo
Please please go - this is a must for classic crêpes, sweet or savory! lovely staff (I'm personally besties with them so I love them) and seriously delicious crêpes. Bussy is the only word to describe this place. - To note: mainly outdoor seating fyi so go when it's nicer out :)

Dinner/Restaurants

Monzù Promenade Sainte Catherine
@sam_gzzo
Nice outdoor seating when the weather is good! Cozy, classy vibes but cute at the same time. And pizza, pasta, cocktails were delishhh. Whether you're out for a chill night or for an occasion, this place is where it's at for anything that you're feeling

Shasha sur le Toit
@sam_gzzo
When I tell you this is the only rooftop bar I've been to but is the BEST in Bordeaux, I'm not kidding. Everything about it is top tier with drinks, music, ambiance (they have a screen for popular sports matches fyi), and of course, the views along La Garonne river. Just a few tram stops aways from city center, it is so worth going out there if you wanna go out for drinks at sunset with an amazing view. - One tip: Definitely book in advance if you're making concrete plans to go here since it's so popular! - Food I recommend eating: the Chakchouka. Insanely good if you want something light and flavorful to eat!

Palatino
@sam_gzzo
The yummiesttt pizza! The food tastes authentically Italian but at the same time the decor is so eccentric and cool inside! - Note: Definitely reserve in advance, and if you haven't reserved, get there right when they open for dinner so you can get a seat!

Food Markets

Les Halles Bacalan
@sam_gzzo
This is a mix of grocery and food stalls for breakfast, lunch, drinks, even tapas! Great for bigger groups of people as they have a lot of outdoor seating. Sometimes they have small outdoor markets for small artists, which I've personally been to also and loved.

Marché des Capucins
@sam_gzzo
Great for food and groceries - apparently fresh fruits and veggies cost the same as in grocery stores, so you might as well get them fresh!

Boulangeries

Boulangerie Jocteur
@sam_gzzo
Soo because I work here I am quite bias, but I really do recommend you stop by for the decoration and "classic feel" of a French boulangerie. Whether it's for a coffee, breakfast, lunch, goûter, or something sweet, we've got it. Everyone says the amount of pastries, brioches, and tarts are the most impressive! So definitely stop by :) - Tips: to get the best pastries that sell out quickly, come earlier in the morning before they sell out! - there is no dairy-free, gluten free bread or milk for your coffee. Just an FYI, but good to know for those wondering! across the street is dairy free coffee if that's what you're feeling. - Some unique pastries in this boulangerie to try: Brioches aux pralines (brioche with pink almonds) and cannelés (the famous Bordeaux pastries) - my favorite pastries, baked goods: the coffee éclairs, brioche aux pralines and les pains aux raisins!
