Day 1: Touching down in Baku and finding serinity

I land in Baku, a city that's all about the modern hustle mixed with a hint of history. But wait, before diving into the urban vibe, I took a detour to Kungut Resort near Sheki. This place is a hidden gem, seriously. Nestled away, it's like a haven of peace. And that Azerbaijani breakfast spread? Think Turkish breakfast vibes - a total unexpected delight!

Day 2: Unveiling Sheki's Timeless Tapestry

Ah, day two was like stepping into a page of history, and Sheki was the captivating setting for this chapter of my adventure.

The morning began with an eager sense of anticipation as I set off to explore Sheki, a town that felt like a portal to another era. As I strolled through its winding streets, I couldn't help but be struck by the charming blend of old-world charm and timeless beauty.

My first stop was the Sheki Khan's Palace—a true gem of Azerbaijani architecture. The moment I stepped through its gates, I was transported back to an era of opulence and grandeur. But what truly stole the show were the mesmerizing mosaics that adorned the palace's walls and ceilings. Each tile seemed to tell a story, and I couldn't help but marvel at the level of craftsmanship that went into creating this masterpiece. It was as if I had stepped into a living work of art.

Next up was the Sheki Caravanserai, and this was a journey into the bustling past of trade and commerce. I couldn't help but imagine the merchants and travelers who once converged here, exchanging goods and stories from far-off lands. The architecture of the caravanserai was a testament to the rich history of this region, and I found myself immersed in the echoes of those bygone days.

Wandering through Sheki's cobblestone streets was a journey through time itself. Each step felt like a connection to the stories of those who had walked these paths centuries ago. The blend of architectural styles, from Azerbaijani to Persian influences, painted a vivid picture of the town's diverse heritage.

Leaving behind the cobblestone streets of Sheki, I embarked on a new adventure that would awaken my taste buds and introduce me to the wonders of Azerbaijani cuisine. My first stop in Gabala was a local eatery that unveiled the magic of kutab—a traditional Azerbaijani dish that seemed to capture the essence of the region in every bite. The combination of flavors and textures was a true delight, and I couldn't help but savor each mouthful, all the while marveling at the culinary tapestry that Azerbaijan had to offer.

As the day progressed, I found myself drawn to a natural wonder that was as captivating as it was awe-inspiring—the Seven Beauties Waterfall. The journey to this ethereal destination was an experience in itself, with every step offering glimpses of the breathtaking scenery that lay ahead.

Continuing from the mesmerizing Seven Beauties Waterfall in Gabala, I journeyed towards Ismaili, where the warmth of Azerbaijani hospitality embraced me in the company of a local family.

Day two had been a fusion of flavors, hospitality, and natural wonders. From the heartfelt connection in Ismaili to the rugged beauty of Shahdag, this day was a testament to Azerbaijan's ability to captivate the heart and soul of any traveler.

Day 3: Embracing the Majesty of Shahdag

Leaving behind newfound friends and the embrace of Ismaili, I set out on the road to Shahdag—a destination that promised not only grandeur but a touch of the ethereal. The Zirve Resort, nestled among the peaks of Shahdag, was a sight to behold. It stood as a sanctuary amidst the awe-inspiring landscape, its charm amplified by the presence of a private lake.

With a heart full of anticipation, I couldn't resist the allure of the lake's crystal-clear waters. The gentle ripples mirrored the surrounding peaks, and as I dipped my feet, a sense of serenity enveloped me. The resort itself was a haven of tranquility, offering a chance to unwind and soak in the natural beauty that surrounded me.

As the day progressed, I laced up my hiking boots and set off to explore the resort's hiking trails. Each path seemed to unfold a new dimension of Shahdag's magnificence.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the sunset. Standing atop a vantage point, I watched as the sun's golden rays kissed the mountain peaks, bathing them in a warm glow. The colors shifted from gold to hues of pink and orange, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. The serenity of the moment was a stark contrast to the exhilaration of the adventures that had brought me here.

Day 4: Unleashing My Inner Adventurer

So, day four was all about feeding my inner daredevil in Shahdag. Coaster rides, shooting ranges - you name it, I tried it.

And the road back to Baku had a sweet surprise - a riverside picnic. Horses, a flowing river, and just nature's serenity.

And then, just as the sun was beginning to set, I found myself back in Baku—a city that never sleeps, and I mean that in the best way possible. The city's energy shifted as the day transitioned to night. I took a leisurely stroll along the seafront, feeling the cool breeze against my skin and listening to the gentle lapping of the waves. It's these simple moments that remind you of the beauty in slowing down and appreciating the world around you.

But the night was still young, and Baku's lights were calling. Nizami Street, a bustling hub of activity, was the perfect place to grab a bite and people-watch. The city's fusion of old and new was evident as I explored the historic sites and enjoyed the modern amenities just steps away.

To cap off this unforgettable day, I had a chance to explore Baku's iconic Flame Towers—majestic structures that come alive with a mesmerizing light show. The view from the top was like being on top of the world, with the city's sparkling skyline stretching out before me.

As I lay down that night, I couldn't help but reflect on the amazing journey I had experienced. From the heart-pounding adventures of Shahdag to the calming moments in Baku, this day had encompassed the essence of Azerbaijan—diverse, vibrant, and utterly captivating.

Day 5: Baku's Urban Charms

The day began with a stroll through Baku's bustling streets, and my guide's insightful commentary instantly transported me back in time. Our first stop was the enigmatic Maiden Tower—a structure shrouded in mystery and intrigue. As I climbed the narrow staircase within its walls, I couldn't help but wonder about the tales this ancient tower held. The panoramic view from the top offered a breathtaking vista of the city and the Caspian Sea, a reminder of the city's maritime history.

Our journey through Baku's historical core led us to the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site that seemed frozen in time. The cobblestone streets, the age-old buildings, and the intricate architecture spoke of a bygone era. We ventured into the heart of the Old City, where the Palace of the Shirvanshahs stood as a testament to the grandeur of medieval Azerbaijan. Its courtyards, chambers, and ornate details offered a glimpse into the opulence that once defined the region.
