East Village: Restaurants that don't require reservations
Olivia Fleming
The East Village has a little bit of everything. Towards the west it is more posh as it connects to Union Square, towards the north it is extremely neighborhoody/family oriented near Stuytown, the east brings you the edginess of old-NY and Alphabet City, whereas the south is the trendy area of LES. East Village has a little something for everyone in it.
The restaurants here serve up delicious food without being stuffy establishments. The East Village is filled with a pleathora of food options for all palates and budgets!
Don't have a reservation, no problem - this guide is for you! My guide includes all day cafes, fast grab n' go options, and some phenomenal sit down restaurants spanning cuisines from italian, australian, Mexican, farm to table and a handful of different mediterranean and Asian cusines. Majority of the restaurants are in the $-$$ price range!
Purchase of the guide includes an amazing interactive map that captures all these specifics and more!

Cafe Mogador
@livvie
Cafe Mogador is a Moroccan restaurant that feels like a NYC institution. They have both an East Village and Williamsburg location. A local crowd is often drawn to the restaurant to enjoy a cocktail, a few small bites, or an entire meal. Their food is clean, delicious, and will leave your belly very full. The ambiance is homey yet airy with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Once you sit down you'll never want to leave.

Tuome
@livvie
Tuome is a cozy little restaurant that serves up food that packs a punch. The food here is phenomenal. It is asian-inspired, but channels a farm to table feeling. The menu changes often and you cannot go wrong with ordering here. This will be one of the best meals you've had in awhile.

Thursday Kitchen
@livvie
Thursday Kitchen is playful and makes you feel like a kid as you eat gourmet popcorn chicken or drink a cocktail out of a 'Capri-Sun' like bag. This place is great to come with a group and share the small plates. There is usually a little wait, but it goes quite quickly.

Madame Vo
@livvie
This restaurant is nicer than fast casual, but not fancy. Don’t be fooled by its simple decor because Madame Vo franks out some of the best Vietnamese food in the city. The food is fairly authentic and packs a punch! I could eat the vermicelli bowl with the spicy tofu every since day.
They also opened Madame Vo BBQ down the street, which I haven’t tried yet but gets raving reviews!

Emmy Squared
@livvie
If you’ve read any of my pizza reviews you’ll realize that I’m extremely partial to Detroit style pizza. What is there not to love about crunchy deep crusts with fried cheese, yummm. Emmy Squared has a few locations in the city and they’re all amazing. I love the colony and vodka pizzas. If pizza isn’t your thing they also have amazing salads and burgers (really their burger is outta this world).

Westville East
@livvie
Westville is a NYC fast casual staple. It’s clean and delicious. Come here to get farm to table freshness in a quarter of the time. The menu changes all the time, but they always offer salads, soups, sandwiches/wraps/burgers, and more. This is the perfect place to stop if you want to eat something great but don’t have too much time.

Lil' Frankie's
@livvie
Lil Frankie’s is old school Italian but boisterous and filled with friends who are looking to have a good time. This place cranks out amazing pasta. The limone pasta and rigatoni with mini meatballs are phenomenal. Come here to fill yourself with delicious carbs, but also to down bottles of wine with your friends.
