Óbidos: Spend a day like a Queen!

Sonia Sees the World
Explore this medieval town for a day and feel like royalty! Visiting Óbidos can either be done as a day trip, or as a one nights stay, but regardless, it’s incredible charm and well kept history is worth the trip from Lisbon!

How to spend a day in Óbidos

There are plenty of day trip tour options here, however I think this can easily be done as a self-guided trip, and if you can, spend the night and appreciate the quiet of the mornings and evenings here - I highly recommend it! Stay in this incredibly well preserved home right outside the castle walls:

Alternatively, you can easily take the 1 hour 30 minute bus from Lisbon, making it an excellent day trip option!

The Rápida Verde bus will take you from this stop to Campo Grande Station in Lisbon. The ticket is 8,50€ and can be purchased on the bus!

Morning

Stop in for a light breakfast at Capinha d’Obidos, but make sure to get there early to beat the lines!

Start your day off by climbing onto the castle walls! There are many entrances, but just head to the large staircases near one of the entryways of the fortress.

Once you have navigated the walls, make your way down on the stairs closest to the main gate, and take in the beautiful tile work of the main gate entrance.

Just a photographer with a travel bug 🌎📸🌿 I am a 32 year old from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a dream to see the world. I have loved photography since as long as I can remember, and have done everything within my power to make it my full-time gig. Do what you love and you never work a day in your life, am I right? I found my passion for travel after going on family trips and travelling for work. After travelling solo to Thailand, I realized that travel is what brings out the best in me. I love planning trips, trying new things, talking to locals, and finding unique experiences in whatever country I'm visiting. With a focus on sustainability and responsible travel, I hope to to showcase the beauty of the world using both of my avocations in life - travel and photography.
