Your trip through Eastern Slovenia begins in Bela Krajina, which is the most southeastern part of the country. From Ljubljana take the Slovenian A2 highway towards Novo mesto and leave it on exit Novo mesto - vzhod then continue on regional road 105 which will take you to Bela Krajina.
Another option is to arrive from the Croatian side in that case you should leave the Croatian A1 highway on exit Bosiljevo or Novigrad na Dobri and cross the border at border crossings Pribanjci/Vinica or Jurovski Brod/Metlika.
