NH Collection Venezia Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi
@sarahpollock
One of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. Let me also say that I don't typically love hotels- I'm an AirBnb person almost always. I don't remember the last time before this I felt so HAPPY to be staying in a hotel to begin with. Would 1000% recommend. In a perfectly central yet quiet part of town too.

sullaluna libreria & bistrot
@sarahpollock
CUTEST bookstore cafe. Walked by here a few times because it was right by our hotel, and every time it was full of young cool people and never felt touristy. The vibe was so cozy and the food was really good!

Bacaro del Gelato
@sarahpollock
THE best gelato I had in Venice, easily.

Colussi Il Fornaio Ltd.
@sarahpollock
Amazing local Italian bakery not far from San Marco square. If you like the almondy, powdery taste of classic Italian desserts, this place does all of that incredibly well. I think we went here twice.

Osteria Ae Sconte
@sarahpollock
Great local Osteria. Got the spaghetti with shrimp and loved it.

La Colombina
@sarahpollock
Our best dinner in Venice. Amazing (potentially Michelin star?) restaurant recommended by our hotel. Just wow.

Doge's Palace
@sarahpollock
I went because it was the appropriate touristy thing to do... was not expecting to be blown away. I couldn't get over how beautiful this place was.

Peggy Guggenheim Collection

Smaller than I thought it would be, but I really like the selection here. A refreshing change from classic Venetian art.

Ghetto Ebraico - Comunità Ebraica di Venezia
@sarahpollock
Old Jewish ghetto. You won't see much unless you consult a guide or walking tour through it to point out all of the subtle details. The history is pretty much exactly what you might expect, but it's fascinating at the same time.

She graduated with a degree in Business Information Systems (although she did not enjoy it) and a minor in Sustainability from the University of Florida. She is also an avid foodie, reader, concert-goer, sitter at coffee shops, introspective thinker, and champion of small businesses. She prides herself on her romantic and nostalgic approach to seeing the world, which is reflected in the hidden gem-filled and slightly sentimental tone of her writing and recommendations. She recently spent this past school year splitting time between Tel Aviv and Be’er Sheva, Israel; teaching English to underrepresented and underprivileged children in both Hebrew and Arabic-speaking schools. She is currently continuing this work in Madrid.
