First things first
Good morning! It's time for caffeine. There are endless cafes in Rome and you really can't go wrong with most. Here are two suggestions for kicking off the tour starting in Centro Storico.
Sant' Eustachio Il Caffè
@itslauraining
This caffe is quite popular given its central location and also the incredible coffee made an old school way. If you prefer a more fast paced and bustling morning coffee experience then come here to kick off your food tour.
The coffee at Sant' Eustachio has a very low caffeine content which is a sign of top quality and helps to eliminate common coffee side effects, like heartburn, headache and insomnia, which is great to avoid when you have a full day of eating, drinking and exploring to do!
Sant’ Eustachio churns out up to six thousand coffees a day and is a favorite for locals and celebrities. Try the Gran Caffe – espresso with cream.

Gran Caffè La Caffettiera
@itslauraining
Gran Caffè La Caffettiera stands out in a city where breakfast bars are often cramped and casual. Baristas and waitstaff - adorned in waistcoats, suits, and bow ties - will serve you simple and traditional Neapolitan coffee, either cappuccino or espresso, so don't plan on asking for anything fancy.
Visit before 10am to witness plates of freshly baked pastries being delivered to bourgeois Romans, and if the weather allows, have breakfast outside to get the views of Hadrian's Temple. During our breakfast visit, we indulged in cappuccinos that were so delightful we had two each.
The cappucini are silky and strong, the breakfast pastries, include Neapolitan flaky delights with lemon zest and ricotta, and doughnuts filled with golden custard. This will kick off your morning right.

Visit the Pantheon
After fueling up on caffeine and sugar at either of these caffes, the Pantheon is just a few steps away. If you want to check out the inside, tickets are available at any major Italy tourist attraction site, like Get Your Guide, Tiqets, Viator etc. Just note that entry begins at 9am.
Otherwise, take in the grandiose temple from the outside at your own pace and stroll through the piazza where crowds will begin to gather for morning coffee and their own explorations.
Pantheon
@itslauraining
The Pantheon is the oldest building on earth that is still in regular use. Pretty incredible.

Curated guides, tailor-made itineraries, and insider travel tips for unforgettable adventures in Italy.
Specializing in local food, wine, cocktails, and unique exploration - particularly in Rome but also in regions and towns north to south. I have experience planning trips to destinations ranging from small towns in Tuscany with a population of 29, to Italy's largest cities.
My recommendations are carefully selected based on quality, location, and overall experience. Typically in centrally located areas so that you won't have to travel too far from any city center to find the best of the best - without falling into tourist traps!
Ideal for solo travelers or couples, whether you're seasoned visitors or first-timers, my guides cater to those seeking a less mainstream, more DIY adventure with a mix of traditional sightseeing and authentic local experiences that emphasize the flavors of the country.
