🇧🇷 World Wonder | Visiting Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
We know that Rio is one of the most visited places and, of course, you can't miss a visit to the monument of the most famous Christ the Redeemer, thats receives an average of 6,000 people a day!
Before starting our guide, you should know that Rio de Janeiro is an extremely hot city, and can reach higher temperatures than normal.
The good thing about this is that you'll almost always have a good view of the Christ, but it's a good idea to keep an eye on the weather forecast when planning your visit.
Tickets
Vans
First you can buy the tickets on the monument's own website.
The site below is the official site and usually has the best price, but there are other platforms that sell tickets together with other tours if you prefer.
This ticket includes the return trip by van. And there are two pick-up/drop-off points that you need to choose from when you buy the ticket.
They are:
It's super easy to buy and book dates. The vans leave every 30 minutes and you can buy for the slot that is available. Children and the elderly have promotional prices.
Train
The second option is to take a train up Corcovado Hill. It's a very enchanting ride, but due to its support it ends up being a little more expensive, but still an excellent option, as it leaves you exactly at the highest point of Christ.
Christ the Redeemer
When you get there, you're faced with an incredible view. The place is very well signposted, and compared to other "wonders of the world" it's not easy to get lost, don't worry! Every spot to see Christ is crowded, so be prepared for a LOT OF PEOPLE.
But the advantage is that you can stay as long as you like (until the place closes) and in that time, you can take a good photo and, of course, enjoy the view from up there of the whole city of Rio de Janeiro.
Behind the Christ, you also have access to the monument, which is actually a small chapel. It once held ceremonies. Inside there are some religious images and information about the construction of the place.
A little further down, out of the crowd, there are some stores and a restaurant if you want to buy some souvenirs or something to eat. These places usually charge quite a lot, so my recommendation is to buy at the markets near the beach, but if you want to, that's still an option.
Review
Overall, you can really enjoy the place. It has good infrastructure, good signposting, the view is incredible and in the heat of Rio de Janeiro, the breeze from the top is very welcome. It's great to spend hours admiring the city and the sea view.
