Stay connected with Airalo, the world's largest eSIM store, and effortlessly share your cherished moments with loved ones, ensuring they know you're enjoying every moment of your adventure, safe and sound.

In Ireland, the primary currency in circulation is the Euro. For financial transactions without incurring hefty fees on your credit card, I recommend a Wise account. With its global acceptance, you can effortlessly conduct transactions worldwide. Also, Wise offers the convenience of saving and sending money in various currencies, making it a great choice for international financial management.

I strongly suggest participating in one of the free walking tours, which operates on a tip-based model. You gain valuable insights into local history and support local guides' efforts.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant city of Galway

With its lively atmosphere, traditional pubs, and bustling markets, Galway offers a wealth of attractions. To learn more about the city's history and important personalities, let's begin our exploration by visiting the Galway City Museum, which is very close to an important historical landmark: the Spanish Arch.

If you want to learn more about Galway history and important facts of the city, visit the Saint Nicholas Church, the Medieval Heart of Galway. If you're in town on a Saturday morning, you can't miss the weekly market: Food, crafts, and loads of goodies.

You might find Lynch's Castle a bit disappointing if you expect all castles to be large and fairytale-like. This castle is located in the heart of the town and currently serves as a branch of the local bank. Still worth a visit to admire the details of the building and recall the stories you've learnt about the Lynch's family and legacy.

One of those interesting stories is recorded on Lynch Memorial Window - read the message on the wall, close to the top window.

Galway Cathedral was a great surprise for me. It's beauty brings peace to the eyes of the beholder - take the time to admire the stained glass, mosaic, and pipe organ. A gem of architecture.

The Riverside Soundwalk is one of those relaxing walks. You can start or finish at the Cathedral. Along the way you'll find information boards containing history and facts of the place. It's a very pleasant and easy walk.

Another option for a chill walk is the Salthill Prom, but don't forget to kick the wall - a local tradition to bring good luck.

Another experience worth trying is a stroll through the Claddagh village, one of the oldest fishing villages in Ireland, and a visit to the Heritage Centre and Museum located in a traditional cottage at the heart of the village.

Eat, Drink & Enjoy Trad Music

Galway has loads of dining options. Some well-known and overpacked, especially during the high season. It's easy to find a good "craic" and trad music in town.

Here are my favourites, with special highlight for Corrib House and Finnegans.

Travel Responsibly!

Support Local Businesses: Opt for local accommodations, restaurants, and shops to contribute directly to the community's economy. This helps sustain local livelihoods and fosters a more authentic travel experience.

Minimize Environmental Impact: Practice responsible environmental habits such as minimizing single-use plastics, conserving water and energy, and participating in local conservation efforts. Leave natural and cultural sites as you found them to preserve their integrity.

Choose Sustainable Transportation: Opt for eco-friendly transportation like public transport, cycling, or walking whenever possible. If you need to hire transportation, consider companies with environmentally conscious practices.

Engage in Responsible Wildlife Tourism: Avoid supporting activities that exploit or harm animals. Choose wildlife excursions and sanctuaries that prioritize the well-being and conservation of the animals.

Be Mindful of Waste: Dispose of waste properly and recycle when available. Carry a reusable water bottle and shopping bag to minimize single-use waste during your travels.

Learn and Educate: Take the time to learn about the destination's history, culture, and environmental challenges. Share this knowledge with fellow travelers to promote responsible tourism practices.

Conserve Energy: Conserve energy in your accommodation by turning off lights, air conditioning, and electronics when not in use. Opt for accommodations that have implemented energy-efficient practices.

Respect Wildlife and Nature: Keep a safe distance from wildlife, and refrain from disturbing natural habitats. Stay on designated trails when hiking and follow guidelines provided by local authorities.

Contribute Positively: Engage with the local community in a positive and meaningful way. If you have time, participate in responsible tourism initiatives, such as community-based projects or volunteering opportunities, to give back to the places you visit.
