Banner Elk is near Boone in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the North Carolina High Country. Small town charm and plenty to see and do. Top notch restaurants to funky craft breweries. In the winter you can play in the snow on the two fabulous ski mountains. In the “off season” you can ride up the mountains chairlift and mountain bike your way back down. Hiking trails are everywhere. The town center features a large park with playgrounds for the kids, a paved walking trail, restrooms and sports fields. All along a pretty, flowing creek! I have posted my recommendations below based on the proximity to the center of town. The closer it is to the top of the list, the closer it is to town.
