Taipei 101 Observatory

Make sure to make your way to the observatory deck on the 89th floor for some of the best 360° views of the city. Tickets to the top are 600 NTD.
And for those of you who are brave enough, then make your way to the tippy-top (Taipei 101 Skyline 460 Observatory Deck) for an even more adventurous experience! *tickets can be booked via Klook*

Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall

Completed in 1972, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was constructed as a memorial for Dr. Sun Yat-sen, one of Taiwan's founding fathers. The grounds surrounding the hall are very beautiful with different paths and gardens to sit in and relax in. It also has excellent views of Taipei 101.

Longshan Temple

Built in 1738, Longshan Temple is the oldest temple in Taipei. Lots of single people come to this temple to pray for finding their true love.

Xingtian Temple

This temple was built in 1967 in devotion to Guan, a general during the Three Kingdoms period who was later deified. It's a very beautiful temple and a great place to learn more about temple culture in Taiwan.

Maokong Gondola

Maokong Gondola is a must-visit attraction in Taipei! It is a total of 4km and takes around 20-30 minutes one-way. At the top, you will be welcomed with spectacular city skyline views and tea shops. A one-way journey to the top is 120 NTD.

Shilin Night Market

Keelung Night Market, just about an hour's train ride from Taipei, is a night market you don't want to miss! It is a very well-organized market with lots of good food such as thick crab soup, tempura fried fish paste, shaved ice, and more. It's also very picturesque with yellow lanterns lining up the main street on both sides.

Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei

Located by Zhongshan MRT station, entry to this museum is only 100 NTD. Art exhibitions change every couple of months, so make sure to check their website to see what's new before heading over.

Taipei Fine Arts Museum is one of my favorite museums in Taipei. Located around Yuanshan MRT station, admission tickets are just 30 NTD, one of the cheapest entry tickets out there. And if you're a student, it's free on Saturdays for you!

The National Palace Museum is one of Taiwan's biggest museums, with over 700,000 Chinese artifacts and artworks. Because of this, tickets are a little pricier at 350 NTD, but are only 150 NTD if you are a student with an ISIC.

OLD STREETS
Dihua Street

Dihua Street is the oldest street in Taipei, with its historical architecture being one of the most preserved in the city. Today, it's a hub for traditional markets selling artisan goods, dried foods, and more. The most popular time to visit this street is during the Lunar New Year when the whole street transforms into a night market selling tons of LNY goodies and food.

Jiufen Old Street

Just about an hour bus ride from Taipei city, Jiufen is supposedly the village that served as inspiration for the film “Spirit Away”. Come here for some special treats, sweet ocean views, and good vibes.

Shifen Old Street

One of the most popular activities to do in Taipei is to release a sky lantern, and lucky enough for tourists, you don't need to wait until the Sky Lantern Festival to do so; Shifen Old Street has lots of stalls selling lanterns all year round, for you to go and make your wishes at any time.
*Please note though that these sky lanterns are not the most environmentally friendly and always end up in the forest or creek; release them at your own discretion*

Yangmingshan National Park

About an hour away from Taipei, is Yehliu Geopark. Known for its unique rocks (such as Queen's Head), Yehliu is also a great spot to soak in Northern Taiwan's coastal views.

Shifen Waterfall

Often referred to as Taiwan's Little Niagara Falls, Shifen Waterfall is 20m tall and 40m wide. A trip to Shifen Falls can be easily added to your day to Shifen Old Street, as it's about a 30-minute walk from the town.
