The Florence duomo is a must. You can get tickets to climb to the top of it, which I highly recommend doing. I think you can get tickets through GetYourGuide or their website. It's good to purchase the tickets ahead of time. The tickets will give you a designated time to enter and climb up, and it has the most amazing views.
I think I bought a ticket from the duomo website that allowed me to go up, and then it also came with a ticket to visit the smaller John the Baptist church.

This is the old historic jewelry district. The main attraction is the bridge that connects the two sides of Florence that are separated by a river. It's a good place to shop for incredible jewelry.
