It was commissioned in 1631 by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The distance between Delhi and Agra is 242 km taking around 4 hours to reach by road. You can also do day trip to Agra from Delhi or Jaipur if you don't want to stay in Agra.

How to get around

You can take a private taxi to if you plan to visit Fatehpur Sikri because its situated 40 km away from Agra. A full day tour will cost around INR 1500- 2000. Also, you can opt for private guided tour if you don't have time and want to skip Fatehpur Sikri.

Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi.
