Vermouth culture is rapidly growing in the US but it has been alive and well for decades in Spain. Whether you like white or red, with sífon or without, paired with fried almonds or boquerones, there are hundreds of places in Barcelona to drop into. Let this list help you seek out some of the best spots in the city.

Morro Fi

With four locations in town, five if you include Dalt de Tot, you can’t not stop off here for a quick vermut and a gilda. Their house vermouth leans toward the sweeter side but I count it as one of my favorites.

Bar Bodega Costa Brava

Gracia is home to most of the classic bodegas in Barcelona however, this one is on the “newer” side. Their menu is great and their vermouth herbal and viscous.

Bodega Cal Pep

A classic, well-known bodega in Gracia with a slightly larger interior than most which makes it a good place to meet up with friends.

Bodega Marín

This spot is a favorite of mine to pop into when I am out and about in Gracia and want a quick pick-me-up. Stop by and snag one of the two outdoor “counter” spots, order a vermut and people watch for a bit.

Another Gracia classic great for a pitstop on your vermouth trail through the city.

La Cañada

This Poble Sec outlier has a danceable playlist and some of my favorite vermouth of all! It is ruby red and lighter than most other vermouths I’ve had in Barcelona so far so if you want to try something different come here!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Collecting Rocks
I am New Orleans native who has been living in Barcelona since 2021. While living abroad I am trying to take every opportunity to explore more of the European continent and love sharing my travel logs with those who are interested. I am an avid hiker, I love architecture, and my favorite meal out would be at someone's house. I am no stranger to a Michelin starred restaurant but I prefer local, cozy, and rustic. My ideal places to stay are small, independent boutique hotels or guesthouses because I like to mix with locals and other travelers. I put countless hours of research into every trip I take, small or large, because every detail matters.
