Finding gluten-free options in Singapore is challenging. There are only four dedicated gluten-free kitchens and a handful of places where the risk of cross contamination is minimal.

 For more information about local food in Singapore, please book a call with me to go over the unique cross contamination risks and ingredients. I am happy to recommend other spots that may be suitable for you.

Honorable Mention

(Not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, but very knowledgeable with minimal risk of cross contamination)

The Living Cafe
@karenhoran
TLC has extensive gluten-free options on the menu. Bonus, the cafe is completely dairy-free. My favorite dishes are the rice bowl with chicken, coconut lentil curry, and GF waffles. Note: this is NOT a good spot for anyone who is anaphylactic to nuts.

Five Guys at Wheelock/Ion
@karenhoran
Five Guys is the best gluten-free go to spot for a burger and fries. The French fries (crisps) are made from fresh cut potatoes and is the only food put into the fryer. This location is close to a Mark's & Spencer Food Hall where we often pick up gluten-free buns to bring with us. Note: Please see out blog post for ordering details and which foods to avoid.

Decker Barbecue
@karenhoran
Shared kitchen, but the staff in knowledgable and the menu is well marked. Everything that goes into the fryer in gluten-free (fries, wings, cauliflower poppers). There are plenty of meats on the menu to choose from. ** Note: the BBQ sauce in the bottles on the tables contains barley malt, do not use.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hello Gluten-Free Travelers! I am Karen Horan and I landed in Singapore in 2011 with a hungry celiac child and gluten intolerant husband. I knew how to do gluten-free in the USA, but Singapore was a whole different place. I spent the first few months checking out grocery stores, wet markets, and hawker centers. I asked questions at restaurants and left disappointed. I researched blogs and articles only to find out the information was out of date. A year after arrival, I started a support group to connect gluten-free expats and locals with friends and resources. We have now been in Singapore for over 12 years. I have put together an entire course of all the information I wished I had at my fingertips before we even boarded our first flight to Singapore. Traveling gluten-free doesn’t have to be stressful! I am happy to help you plan your gluten-free trip to Singapore so that you can maximize your fun and minimize the stress of finding safe food.
