Discovering the historic center of Lecce:

Santa Caterina is a seaside resort a few kilometers from Nardò, in the province of Lecce, situated between two towers, Torre Santa Caterina and Torre Dell'Alto. 

You must visit the historical center of Nardó:

The area around Nardó is dotted with fields full of ancient olive trees and nearby villages such as Santa Maria al Bagno, Santa Caterina or Sant'Isidoro, places where you can enjoy incredible views.

The currency used in Santa Caterina is the Euro €, Credit cards are accepted but  I recommend always having some cash for smaller stores that may not have an ATM. I recommend getting the Revolut card which is very useful to avoid paying fees in other countries. 

The nearest airport is brindisi about 70km  

But if what you really want to enjoy is the beach I recommend going between June and September.  But you need to be aware that high season is always more expensive, especially in a beach area.

The best time to visit is in the warm months, from April to October. 

If you're a Sunset lover then you must go to "Torre Dell' Alto".  Its a very beautiful place with a very interesting view, where you can see the ocean and the best sunsets.

A stay of 5 to 6 days is recommended to explore Santa Caterina and surroundings. 

Santa Caterina is generally safe, but as any other city is recommended to be aware of your surroundings and keep valuables secure especially in crowed areas. 

Porto Selvaggio: offers a unique experience for lovers of nature, water sports and outdoor excursions.  

Porto Selvaggio is a natural park of 432 hectares with a pine forest that extends for 270 hectares. 

The beach is a paradise with crystal clear sea and perfect seabed for snorkeling. Porto selvaggio offers a wide range of activities for all tastes. 

If you prefer to stay on dry land the park offers many trails for trekking and walking. You can also do a picnic and relax.

Nardó is the most populous city in the province of Lecce with over than 31000 inhabitants. Dominated by baroque art and awaiting historic center where the beautiful piazza Salandra is located.

You can start your tour from the heart of the historical centre, piazza Salandra Wich is characterized by several monuments such as the palazzo di città.

If you're looking for white sand beachs with crystal-clear waters, Punta prosciutto is definitely the best place to find them.

The peculiarity of it's waters is that they are shallow, allowing you to walk without being covered for hundreds of metres.

- Walking trough the historic heart of Lecce you arrive at piazza Sant' Oronzo that hosts one of the most important monuments the Roman Amphitheater, which tells us how ancient the city is. Over three thousand, four thousand years of history. The amphitheater is 2000 years old and was built by the emperor augustus. 

- Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta , the cathedral has a feature that makes it unique: the facade that seems to be the main one, which is found as soon as you enter the square. 

Is a type of filled italian pastry. Depending on the region they are traditionally filled with either ricotta cheese or egg custard.

Bucatini is a type of long pasta with a hole in the middle, which looks like thick spaghetti.  The sauce is based on tomatoes, guanciale (like bacon made from pig cheeks) and pecorino cheese.
