48hrs in London
London is a massive city and can be daunting at first but as soon as you're the city centre there is plenty to see, do and eat depending on what your heart desires!ย
Getting to the City Centre
London has 4 main airports which are all well connected, with guides on how to reach the city via public transport on the links below. Due to the busyness of London, it is best to rely on the public transport rather than renting a car, however if you're planning lots of daytrips out of London it may be worthwhile.ย
If travelling by train or bus, the station is very central so thereโs no extra commute required.
Heathrow Airport
There are 3 underground systems that will take you to the city with ease:
- The Heathrow Express (~ยฃ15, takes around 15mins)
- The London Underground (~ยฃ5.50, takes around an hour)
- The Elizabeth Line (ยฃ12.80, takes around 45mins)
There is also coaches if you prefer that costs around ยฃ10 and taking about 25mins.ย
London Stansted Airport
Stansted has 2 main forms of transport to the city:
- The Stansted Express train (~ยฃ9.45, takes around 15 mins)
- National Express bus (~ยฃ5, takes around 50mins)
Gatwick Airport
Again this airport has 2 main options for public transport:
- The Gatwick Express train (~ยฃ23, takes around 30mins
- The National Express bus (~ยฃ7.50, takes around 1.5hrs
Luton Airport
Your best option for Luton Airport is the DART that goes direct to the city centre. It takes about 40mins and costs around ยฃ18, or cheaper if bought in advance.
