Myeongdong/Jung-guΒ

Myeongdong -- known for its iconic shopping street with street food and restaurants at every corner -- is one of the main tourists hubs in Seoul. It's conveniently located near the historical palaces and has underground walkways and bus stations to help you get around. If you want the full tourist experience, Myeongdong is definitely the place for you.Β

Migliore Hotel Seoul Myeongdong
@viajera
What's great about this hotel is that the entrance to the subway is right in front of the hotel -- offering tourists a convenient transportation experience. It's also right in front of the huge Uniqlo store in Myeongdong, which is perfect if you need to do last minute shopping. Also, the hotel was called Loisir Hotel before, hence the YouTube video thumbnail.

L7 Myeongdong
@viajera
Situated right at the edge of the Myeongdong Shopping Street, L7 Myeongdong is a chic hotel under the Lotte Group. The room sizes are average, but the best part about this hotel is that there's an airport bus that stops right in front of the hotel, which is lessens the hassle of your airport transport.

Pacific Hotel

If you want to be close enough to the Myeongdong Shopping Street but also enjoy some peace and quiet, this hotel is for you! It's right across the street from the tourist hub and close enough to the Namsan Tower Cable Car center as well (an uphill climb though πŸ˜…). The rooms are spacious and they also have options with 3 beds, which is perfect if you're travelling with family and friends.

Royal Hotel Seoul
@viajera
This hotel is right smack at the center of it all! It's the perfect location if you want to feel the buzz of Myeongdong and see all the action. The rooms are clean and moderately sized, which is perfect after a long day of walking around Seoul.

THE PLAZA Seoul, Autograph Collection
@viajera
While it's not in Myeongdong itself, it is still a good hotel option for tourists. It's walking distance from the historical palaces and it has an underground walkway that connects it to all the main shopping areas in Myeongdong (ex: Lotte Young Plaza and Lotte Department Store). We tried a Jr. Suite room and it was a great size for a long-stay visit, which included a mini living room and a sliding door to the bedroom.

Metro Hotel

Prime location! Although I haven't stayed in this hotel, it is the only hotel our good friend stays at whenever they visit Seoul -- which I think that says a lot about their customer service.

A little bit of a walk from the main Myeongdong shopping street, but it's a great option if you want a less busy area.

Gangnam

Gangnam is known as one of the richest areas in Seoul, which makes it the home to many department stores, malls, and underground shopping centers. Many famous tourist spots are also in this area, such as Lotte World, Garosu-gil, and Han River Banpo Park. If you want to experience living in the Beverly Hills of Seoul, you should definitely book a hotel in the Gangnam area.Β

InterContinental Seoul COEX
@viajera
We visited this hotel before its renovation in 2020, but even then the hotel was amazing! The service was top notch and the staff was helpful. I don't want to comment on the rooms because I'm not sure how much has changed, but if it was great then, I'm sure it's even better now!

GLAD Gangnam COEX Center
@viajera
The hotel is near the COEX complex, which includes the Starfield Mall and the train station. Best if you're wanting a chill trip as it isn't near a lot of main tourist spots.

voco Seoul Gangnam, an IHG Hotel (λ³΄μ½”μ„œμšΈκ°•λ‚¨)
@viajera
This hotel provides everything you need in a hotel and more! From a kitchen in every floor to laundry services, you are sure to have a pleasant stay at VOCO. The hotel is also near Garosugil -- one of the hip places in Seoul for cute cafes and great shopping. An added plus is that the floor is wood, which is perfect for those who tend to have allergies from carpet floors.

Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam
@viajera
The hotel had great service, and the staff was helpful and generally proficient in English. The hotel had restaurants, a swimming pool, and even a indoor driving range. While its location makes it more of a business hotel, the neighborhood felt very local, which exudes a different charm from the touristy areas of Seoul.

Four Points by Sheraton Seoul, Gangnam
@viajera
The hotel is located in between Garosugil and Apgujeong Rodeo - both of which are cool places to hang out in Soeul with its variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes. The rooms are spacious and the staff was friendly.

Mapo-gu

Mapo-gu is most known for Hongdae and Sinchon -- both known for their young and hip vibe. From outdoor busking to riverside parks and even university campuses, this district is full of unique attractions. If you want to experience Seoul's nightlife and be in the district that never sleeps, booking a hotel in Mapo-gu should be your top priority.Β

Seoul Garden Hotel

The hotel has perfect mobility as it is right in front of Mapo Station. Although the hotel is a bit dated, it has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay in Seoul.

Yeongdeungpo-gu

While Yeongdeungpo-gu is not the first area you'd think of when booking a hotel in Seoul, this district actually offers way more than people realize. Other than the Times Square Mall, it also has the 63 Building, Yeouido Park, and Yanghwa Hangang Park. If you want to experience a different area that many tourists might overlook, Yeongdeungpo-gu would be for you.Β

Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square
@viajera
This hotel is directly connected to Times Square Mall, which is one of the popular malls in Seoul. Just like Voco, the floors are wood which I find is rare for most hotels. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful -- making the stay more pleasant.
