Packing Essentials:

Expect to spend most of your time in the water or on the beach, so pack multiple swimsuits and comfy sandals that can be worn near the water. (Chacos are my trusted favorite!)

Think casual, light, and breathable clothes. Shorts, tank tops, and flowy dresses are your best friends in the tropical climate. This is a touristic area that allows for more freedom in what you wear, but if you visit locals then remember modesty guidelines.

Bring a dry bag for rainy season or the beach days and boat tours!

Remember to protect yourself from those intense Thai rays with plenty of sunscreen.**Reef-Safe Toiletries** Be eco-conscious and bring reef-safe sunscreen, shampoo, and soap to protect fragile marine life! Many tourists come to the Phi Phi islands for the snorkeling opportunities.

Getting Around:

Longtail Boats: These colorful boats are a common sight and can take you to nearby islands or snorkeling spots. Bargain a bit on the price before you hop in.

Walking: Most of the action is around Phi Phi Don, and it's a compact island, so you can explore on foot.

Food & Drinks:

Phi Phi Don is known for its vibrant food scene. Here's where to satisfy your taste buds...

Street Food Stalls: Affordable and delicious Thai street food is a must-try. Pad Thai, green curry, and mango sticky rice – you can't go wrong.

Beachfront Bars: Enjoy a cold beer or cocktail while watching fire shows and listening to live music. Perfect casual evening vibes

Fresh Fruit Shakes: You'll find stalls selling fresh fruit shakes all over the island. They're a refreshing treat in the heat. My favorite is their coconut ice cream shakes.

Island Hopping:

Don't miss out on exploring the neighboring islands, this is easily booked for tours less than $60USD

Maya Bay (Phi Phi Leh): It's the star of the show, made famous by the movie "The Beach." Snorkel, swim, or simply take in the breathtaking beauty.

Bida Islands: Perfect for snorkeling and diving. Encounter colorful marine life and vibrant coral reefs.

Krabi Islands: view where original James Bond scenes were filmed!

The Phi Phi Islands are a casual traveler's dream come true. With their relaxed vibes, pristine beaches, and vibrant nightlife, these islands offer the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. So get ready for the trip of a lifetime. Enjoy every moment and savor the beauty of this tropical paradise!

My name is Izzy, I am DC based, and I have traveled to 14 countries + five continents in the last five years. My pursuit is to volunteer abroad, as it allows me to expand my horizons, gaining a profound insight into diverse cultures and their impact on our global community. Additionally, I find great pleasure in exploring various states within the US for my own personal enjoyment. (: Going... is meant to be filled in with the blanks of all of your travel desires! Where I am going and how I am doing it are frequent questions inquired of me from myself... but also by my family, friends, and co-workers.  I have a profound passion for mindful travel, where I wholeheartedly immerse myself in the local culture, while carefully considering country-specific requirements, managing my budget thoughtfully, and prioritizing the exploration of history, interactions with the local people, and appreciation of the natural beauty of the destination. My approach involves actively engaging with the people of my chosen location, as I am dedicated to savoring the essence of the country, city, and its inhabitants before bidding adieu. I gauge the success of my trips by whether I've enjoyed my accommodations, discovered amazing food (and coffee, of course!), engaged in meaningful interactions with locals, acquired new knowledge, and experienced a touch of nature's beauty. I decided to make this page to keep an online journal of my travels and to inspire others to make their leaps into their own adventures. The first steps are hard because you do not know what you don't know. I want to help you ask the right questions, prepare yourself emotionally & practically, and foster excitement in what is ahead! I would love to connect with you to help you meet your travel desires and curate the perfect trip!
