Camping
Here is a mix of free BLM (bureau of land management) camp sites along with paid campsites. If you are a beginner camper, I would recommend staying at paid state park sites. Most of the BLM sites are pretty remote and typically have no cell service. Make sure you have a a full tank of gas and water/food/supplies while adventuring!
Dispersed Camping
Valley of the Gods
@laurenurasek
FREE BLM CAMPING: There is an incredible dirt road (you don't need 4WD) that goes through Valley of the Gods. You can choose to drive through and gaze at the insane rock formations or pick a campsite and post up for the night or two. This is all on BLM land so all camping is free and dog-friendly!

Bears Ears

FREE BLM CAMPING:
If you're leaving Natural Bridges National Monument, take a left on ELK MOUNTAIN ROAD (BLM 228) and follow it up the mountain to see multiple free BLM campsites. Some of the most epic views I have ever seen.
The google maps coordinates are: (37.6134764, -109.8802694)

White Canyon / Farley Canyon
@laurenurasek
DISPERSED CAMPING: Omg. This place is incredible. It's technically a national dispersed campground so you should bring some cash to throw in the little slot. I think it was $15/night.
It's first come, first served so you can't make a reservation but you don't need it, this is basically the middle of nowhere. Very primitive.
You start by driving down Farley road off of the 95 and the campground continues all the way to lake powell. If you don't have 4WD, you will have to camp at one of the beginning camp sites but if you can keep going, please do!!
Type in these coordinates on Google Maps: 37°49'13.5"N 110°23'49.8"W

White Pocket
@laurenurasek
FREE BLM CAMPING: Technically this is in Arizona, right on the border of Utah! You will need 4WD with high clearance to access White Pocket or you can hire a guide to take you. It is one of the most incredible places I have ever been!
It takes about 1.5 hours down a dirt road to access it so you can either camp out there for the night or make it a day trip. Totally worth it!

Dinosaur Tracks

FREE BLM CAMPING: Escalante is the general area but to get to this site, follow these directions:
- Go down Hole in the rock road (BLM200) from Escalante
- Drive 14 miles down Hole in the rock road (it's very bumpy)
- Turn right onto BLM230/Left Hand Collet Canyon Road, drive 2.4 miles
- Turn right onto Left Hand Collet Canyon road
- Drive towards the white stone walls and you will see multiple campsites along the way! These are all free BLM spots.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lauren Urasek
I plan trips around beautiful photo-worthy spots (gotta get the shot), experiencing culture, and delicious food. From 25+ solo-trips to adventures with my dog & partner, I am always on-the-go or planning another adventure. My partner is a chef so finding mouth-watering meals is a must for us. I am always up for spontaneity, excitement, and like to leave a little room for magic.
I plan a mix of highbrow and lowbrow activities, hotels, and restaurants. I'm just as happy staying in a tent as I am in a 4-star hotel. I'm always on the hunt for off the beaten path experiences that you can't just find on any tourist website. I talk to locals and do in-depth research to find life-changing experiences.
Don't just go places, have experiences!
