I❤️ Markets:Taste Chianti
Judy Witts Francini
Some of my favorite places in the area between Florence and Siena known as Chianti. It's not just the name of the wine, but also the area which produces it.
Greve is the "capital" of the area, not all the small towns and villages have town halls. Some are what's called a "borgo" a group of homes and perhaps a church. Fun to explore the small off the beaten track places as well.
There are so many lovely bars and shops to have simple snacks if you don't want a large sit down meal. People watching is one of my favorite pastimes. Letting it all soak in.
The 222 highway is often popular with bike riders as well and there are no bike lanes, so drive carefully, especially on the weekends.
Many of the small towns have a market day once a week. Where the mall comes to you. It's always fun to visit a weekly market.
More than just food! Clothing, shoes, purses, fabric, kitchen supplies and more. Often a Porchetta truck.

Greve in Chianti
Greve is considered the "capital city" of the Chianti wine region. It is where the Chianti Wine festival is held every September. The piazza is now a car free zone and the lovely covered loggia area is filled with wonderful shops, bars and restaurants.
The statue in the center of the piazza is of Giovanni di Verrazzano, who sailed with Amerigo Vespucci into Hudson Bay. Amerigo was born in Montefioralle just above Greve and Giovanni's home is a castle/winery which you can tour.
Market day is Saturday.
Enoteca Falorni
@Diva
This is located just off the large parking lot behind the COOP grocery store.
If you don't want to tour a lot of wineries, this is where you can taste and compare.
Chianti, Chianti Classico, Super Tuscans. Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and some other big wines.
Large tables where you can also sip and sit. They give you paper and pencil to take notes as you taste and you can also get small plates of food to accompany the wine.
There is a back locked up chamber with wines for sale.
They also ship.

Antica Macelleria Falorni

Great place to stop for sliced salumi and prosciutto etc. You can also eat there now. They have a small butcher's stand inside as well with a butcher for other cuts of beef, pork and chicken.
