Home to the UN's Court of Justice, the Dutch royal family, and Parliament, this is a very important city. Don't miss out on the history and beauty. Below, you will find a list of places to visit while in Den Haag.

According to the locals I spoke with, the months of April-June and September-October are the best times to be here. If you wait too long and stay in July-August, you will be experiencing the Dutch heat and crowds, and if you go between November-February it will be cold and rainy with limited outdoor activities.

To get the most out of Den Haag and surrounding areas, I would recommend a stay of at least 2-3 days. That will allow you to experience this city fully and slowly. 

Europe is known for its public transportation, and Den Haag is no different. The upside to this city is that the trains and metro are usually on time. Buses might be another story, though. But you have options, and I think you'll find the free one is best.

- 👣 Walking: The cheapest, and often most rewarding, form of transportation out there! It's easy to hit that 10,000 steps goal here!

- 🚲 Bicycle / Scooter Rental: Perhaps you want to take in all the sights, but walking isn't the answer. Haagse Stadsfiets is a great rental option, otherwise find OV-fiets bikes around the city.

- 🚍 HTM Bus: The public transport company operates the bus and tram network. Buy a ticket or simply tap your card on and off to be charged for each leg.

- 🚋 HTM Tram: Exactly the same as the bus, use a ticket or tap your card to travel on the trams. This is the best option for getting to major attractions and going to suburban areas.

- 🚤 Ferry / Boat: Although not as well-known or picturesque as Amsterdam's canals, you can hire a ferry or boat tour for roughly 15-25€ per ride. You might even use this as a way to connect to nearby coastal towns.

- 🚊 Train: Den Haag Centraal and Den Haag HS are ready for you to travel to surrounding areas whenever you like. With a digital QR-code of your ticket, a paper ticket from the machine, or with a tap of your card, you will go through the gates and to the platform. NS is the company found throughout Nederland and at these stations.
