I have been to Dubai more times than I can count now, but each one is unique because Dubai is constantly changing and evolving. Every time you come back, there is going to be at least a new neighbourhood you haven’t visited yet. Thus, I suggest you plan to come back to this amazing city as one time is definitely not enough!!

Getting around Dubai is impossible on foot. The city seems small but things are spread out horizontally in different neighbourhoods which are quite distant from one another.

I suggest you either use taxis, which are fast, comfortable and way less expensive than what we are used to; or the Metro, which is perfect if you know which neighbour you need to go to and once you get off at the right stop there is a path taking you exactly where you need to go.

1. For the Taxi, download the Careem App, which works just like Uber in Dubai and you can also get yourself some food or order groceries etc..

2. For the Metro, I suggest you buy the Nol Card (especially if you plan to come back in the future 😉 ) which works as a rechargeable card that you can top up either at the metro counter or at one of the automatic machines at the metro. They work for any other means of transport in the city, including taxis!!

The best neighbourhood to stay depend on you and what you want out of the experience. Keep in mind that every hotel in Dubai, even the “worst” ones are still way better than our medium-low hotel and it offers the best comfort you would want for a nice and stress-free trip.

Anyways, I feel like sharing the best areas for you to stay once visiting Dubai: Dubai Marina / JBR, Jumeirah and Downtown (also anything along the Sheik Zayed Road). I have tried a few and I can recommend the Shangri La hotel, personnel is attentive to the needs of the clients, breakfast is DELICIOUS, rooms are spacious and with a stunning view of the Burj Khalifa.

Do not forget to get into the details of each place to learn about more amazing opportunities and adventures 

And do not forget to spend one day in Abu Dhabi to visit the Mosque, the Emirates Palace and the amazing Louvre Musuem.

Of course, there are many more to do but this is what I recommend for your first visit. Everything depends on your budget, type of trip and trip companions.
