Arizona is such a great U.S. state for a road trip.

There are tons of pit stops, small towns, and scenic views. While we were extremely short on time… you can use this guide and spread it out accordingly. If you have more than three days, great! Just saved you several hours of research. 😉

Day One:

Doesn’t matter where you are flying in from, I would recommend to start in PHX.

Our first night we stayed near the airport since we got in so late… then we camped in our car, in total darkness and enjoyed the starry sky by monument valley. (Personally I love a nice hotel, but I’m not opposed to roughing it, especially since my husband is an outdoors guru)

But if you are looking to stay in city, I have sent my clients to all of the below and when we arrived in Vegas on day three we stayed at the Conrad. (See below)

Stray Puppies 🐶

Soooo we’re driving away from our campsite, just enjoying the scenery, when we see two little figures running towards the car. They’re in the middle of the road, and we were already driving very slowly… we stopped the car and they approached the side of the door.

We looked around before opening it and saw that one of them had a collar with a little bell. We didn’t see anyone or hear anyone looking for the puppies. We drove in the area a bit to see if we found the owners.. even though we suspected that someone had dumped the little puppies in the desert. (An unfortunate common practice)

My husband looked over at me and sighed… while unbuckling his seatbelt and getting out. It was now our mission to save the puppies from coyotes or getting hit by a distracted driver.

They came with us to a lot of our stops! Looking for shelters along the way.. but Google came up short handed. So from monument valley to the Grand Canyon, the puppies followed along.. we finally turned them over to a Park Ranger at the Grand Canyon 😭
