Sorolla Museum
@jillarcaro
Hidden Gem: Sorolla Museum - Discover the stunning works of Joaquín Sorolla in a charming setting. The Sorolla Museum in Madrid is dedicated to the works of the Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla and is housed in his family home in Madrid complete with an Andalucian style garden. Joaquín Sorolla, the Spanish painter, lived from 1863 to 1923. He was active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was known for his luminous and colorful paintings, particularly his landscapes, portraits, and scenes depicting life in Spain. Sometimes is is described as a Spanish impressionist because of his masterful use of light and his ability to capture the soul of his subjects with a distinctive style. The Sorolla Museum houses a collection of Sorolla's works, including paintings, sketches, and personal belongings. The building itself, a beautiful mansion with gardens, provides a serene setting for appreciating Sorolla's art and way of life. Schedule Open from Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Mondays. The visiting hours may vary, so it's advisable to check the museum's official website or contact them directly for the most up-to-date schedule information. Metro The nearest metro station to the Sorolla Museum is Iglesia, which is on Line 1 (light blue line) of the Madrid Metro. It's a short walk from the station to the museum. Admission Fees and Free Days - Admission fees vary, and there might be discounts for seniors, students, and groups. Children and teenagers under a certain age might have free entry. - As for free days, the museum occasionally offers free admission, especially on specific dates such as International Museum Day (May 18) or during special events. It's recommended to check the museum's official website or contact them directly to inquire about any upcoming free admission days. This gem is my personal favorite because it showcases Sorolla's impressive body of work in a tranquil and beautifully preserved setting.

Day 2: Sports Enthusiast's Adventure

Santiago Bernabéu Stadium
@jillarcaro
Must-Visit: Santiago Bernabéu Stadium - Explore the history and legacy of Real Madrid Football Club with a stadium tour or even buy tickets for a match! Experience the atmosphere of this iconic venue and discover the club's triumphs. On the tour walk through the player's tunnel, visit the trophy room showcasing the club's triumphs, and soak in the electrifying atmosphere of the pitchside area. Delve into the rich history and immerse yourself in the passion and legacy of one of the world's most celebrated football clubs. Metro stop for Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is "Santiago Bernabéu" on Line 10 (dark blue line) or "Nuevos Ministerios" on Line 6 (gray line). Located straight up the Paseo de la Castellana at Av. de Concha Espina, 1, the stadium takes about 15 mins. to reach by Uber or metro Santiago Bernabeu https://www.realmadrid.com/sites/tour-bernabeu Pre-buy museum tickets online.  Around 39 euros.  Totally worthwhile. How to get tickets to a match I recommend buying tickets online at stubhub.  See link below.  Avoid the hassle of box offices, crowds and scalpers. Why wait in line when you can get them instantly from your computer or phone? Real Madrid CF Ticketshttps://www.stubhub.ie/real-madrid-cf-tickets/performer/126820/ Tips for buying your Real Madrid tickets 1.  Check the official calendar of matches and verify that Real Madrid CF play at home. As in any other sport event, Real Madrid Club de Fútbol’s name comes first (e.g. Real Madrid CF – Sevilla FC). The other way round means Real Madrid play away. 2.  The final date and time of the match are confirmed only a few days beforehand. 3.  A match takes place on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday generally. It’s rare but matches can sometimes take place on weekdays if the calendar is tight due to other official competitions (Copa del Rey, Eurocup, Word Cup, or other events). 4.  Ticket prices vary according to several factors: the importance of the rival, the seat location, the day of the week the match takes place, whether the match is aired on free TV or not, and the competition (La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League or Europa League).  With all these variables in mind, you shouldn’t expect to buy your Real Madrid tickets months or even weeks in advance. Unfortunately, because of the calendar’s uncertainty you will only be able to purchase your tickets a few days in advance. 5.  Nevertheless, Real Madrid CF and Atlético de Madrid never play at home the same week. In other words, there is a football match every single week in the city. Hence if you don’t mind to attend a match of either club, you always have a chance to get tickets. 6.  On the ticket, ‘Puerta’ is the door number that you enter, ‘Fila’ is the row, and ‘Número’ is the seat number.
