Brussels, Belgium | A Culinary Guide

Starting with the capital of België, immerse all five senses in this beautiful, incredible city. Mostly, that means trying the beer, fries, and chocolate! Below, you will find a list of places to visit while in Bruxelles.

According to the locals I spoke with, the months of April-June and September-October are the best times to be here. If you wait too long and stay in July-August, you will be experiencing the Dutch heat and crowds, and if you go between November-February you will need a rainjacket, umbrella, and lots of layers. However, there is a charming winter atmosphere with great Christmas markets.

To get the most out of Bruxelles and surrounding areas, I would recommend a stay of at least 2-3 days. That will allow you to experience this city fully and slowly. 

Europe is known for its public transportation, and Bruxelles is no different. The city is very accessible to walking and biking, but there is an extensive public transportation network for your convenience.

- 👣 Walking: The cheapest, and often most rewarding, form of transportation out there! It's easy to hit that 10,000 steps goal here!

- 🚲 Bicycle / Scooter Rental: Perhaps you want to take in all the sights, but walking isn't the answer. You will find bike and scooter rentals almost anywhere. Villo! is the most popular one lying around, ready for you to use.

- 🚇 STIB-MIVB Metro: The public transport company operates a number of metros, buses, and trams in the city. This is ideal for reaching the outer parts of the city. Buy a day pass for 24 hours of unlimited travel on any transportation of the system for less than 10€ or a single-hour ticket for under 5€. Alternatively, tap your card to enter and leave the stations and get charged for each leg.

- 🚍 STIB-MIVB Bus: Part of the same system as the metro and tram, you can use the same pass for travel. Otherwise, tap on and off just as with the metro.

- 🚊 Train: With a multitude of train stations in the area, you have plenty of options to get out of the city. Whether you're going to a nearby city or taking the Thalys or Eurostar to England, this hub city is perfect for a getaway. Have your digital or paper ticket ready, and hop on!
