The Ultimate Glacier National Park Itinerary
Glacier National Park is home to some of the most breathtaking natural beauty in the United States. However, it can be a bit overwhelming to plan a trip and see everything. This guide will help you understand the area a bit better and plan the best trip possible.
Getting there
Glacier is still a relatively remote place, so getting there is going to be a bit tricky. If you are located in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, or other surrounding areas, I'd recommend road tripping here to avoid the expensive flight and rental cars.
If you're not nearby, you'll fly into the Glacier County International Airport in Kalispell. You'll want to rent a car here as public transportation is limited and it's difficult to get around without a car here.
Keep in mind that things are far apart in this area of Montana, so don't be alarmed by 30 minutes to an hour drive to get to things. The drives are super pretty anyways and it's really just because the roads take you through the mountains and you can't drive fast. Definitely stop for photos or to smell the flowers if you want.
West Glacier vs East Glacier
If you've looked into taking a Glacier trip, you've probably noticed that there are two entrances to the park. West Glacier is definitely more popular, since it's right outside of Whitefish. East Glacier is much more isolated and difficult to get to, but can be a destination if you're specifically going to a spot better accessible by East Glacier.
