We arrived at Cancun international airport. We rented car with Alamo company - we did it twice and every time satisfied - cheap, great service, fast. You can also travel around Yucatan by buses (Ado company).
The second link is directly to the ADO website where you can book tickets online. I have traveled with ADO several times when visiting Mexico City and the surrounding area and have always been satisfied with their service - clean buses with air conditioning and almost always on time.
Cancun and Isla Mujeres
Cancun is a popular tourist destination on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and one of the first places you visit when traveling by plane. The city is known for its beautiful beaches, lively nightlife and Mayan ruins (one famous Mayan archaeological site is Chichén Itzá, but there are many more). The best time to visit Cancun is during the dry season from November to April to enjoy the sunny weather. and avoid hurricanes.
We honestly didn't like the hotel zone in Cancun - it felt more like Miami than Mexico, so we spent one night there and decided to go to Isla Mujeres for the weekend - it was definitely worth it, I liked this island the most and its vibration.
But it's also a good option to choose accommodation in the center of Cancun, with a local atmosphere and some of the best and cheapest tacos, salsa and bachata nights.
