Florence, Italy Guide to an Amazing Vacation
Getting to Florence, Italy
If you want to fly into Florence from the US, I recommend their airport FLR or Amerigo Vespucci Airport. In my experience flights range from 8-15 hours depending which state you are coming from. Another option that sometimes can be cheaper is flying into Bologna (BLQ) or Pisa (PIS). These airports have a shuttle system that connects directly to their main train stations and you can get to Florence in just a few hours.
For those coming from a European country I recommend taking a train in. Trains are a great way to travel on a budget while still saving time. Florence's major train station is called Florence Santa Maria Novella Station (Stazione di Santa Maria Novella).

Where to Stay
I have stayed in a variety of places in Florence, from Airbnb's, to hotels, to my own apartment. The best recommendation I have is finding a place near the Duomo. This landmark is a central point of the city. Being near this site allows you to be within walking distance of most of the city. To reach the furthest points from here is about a 20 minute walk.
