Shenandoah National Park
Day 1:
Drove in to Graves Mountain Campground. This is a self serve make your own spot campground and it does get busy. You can also stable horses at the campground and people do. There were lots of horses around which was so fun for the kids. The bathrooms are just toilets and we’re pretty rough, though you can walk across the street to their restaurant and main lodge area and there are better bathrooms.
Overall we really enjoyed tent camping at Graves Mountain. The location for visiting Shenandoah was really good as it was located pretty central to the park.
After setting up camp and having some lunch we set off for the park.
The drive to get to almost any trail head from the campground is about an hour or more as there are few roads leading to and through the park.
