Cheap and Quick Eats

ROCTACO
@hayleytaggart
RocTaco is one of my top three restaurants of all time. The atmosphere, the food, the bopping playlist. This place has it all, and was only a 10 minute walk from where we lived. HIGHLY RECOMMEND: The Pom Guac and Tikka Taco Braden and I were there some of the first weeks they were open and subsequently ate there every other week for over a year. It's the restaurant we had cater my family dinner two nights before the wedding. It's the last meal we had with his parents before our big move. It's the guacamole Braden buys me when I am sad. It's the real deal! And maybe wander up and down Edison street and look at the all the other fun bars and restaurants that have opened in the last year!

Coffee

Tea Zaanti
@hayleytaggart
After a hard day of work or a lazy summer afternoon you want some tea... or something stronger. That is where Tea Zaanti is there for you. MUST TRY- Blueberry Matcha Latte (tastes just like a blueberry milkshake!) Teamosa (your choice of tea and champagne!) They have a fantastic (dog friendly!) patio and plenty of inside seating. It's a great place to sit and get some work done. With great selections of teas and wines you really can’t lose. You can even take a stroll and stop at many fantastic stores on the same street in Sugarhouse (but more on those stores later). If you are a local, make sure to also get on their email list. They always have great wine tastings and other events! Braden and I went to one on our mini-honeymoon and had a fantastic time.

I still think about their lavender haze latte. There may be a line, but it will move fast! Try their sugarhood guac as well!

Brunch

Bruges Belgian Bistro
@hayleytaggart
Started by immigrants from Belgium, they have the best waffles and fries around! There is very limited outdoor seating so be prepared for that! We love the Chicken and Waffles and Bohemian Rhapsody!

The Rose Establishment

The cutest place with the best food! I loved it so much I had my wedding brunch there! They were very accommodating for large groups and are a great space for events! With an ever rotating menu it is hard to pick just one thing! But I love their lavender drinks and their frittatas!

Perfect for a fancy dinner! Make a reservation and try their beer can chicken and old fashioned flight. It looks like an unassuming tequila bar but you will use the secret door to access the rest!

MONKEYWRENCH
@hayleytaggart
I have tried a lot of vegan ice cream and this is some of the best I have ever had It has a convenient location downtown SLC so you can add it while you are walking around They always have a selection of fun flavors (try the lavender, tea and biscuits, or any of their seasonal flavors for a great experience) It’s even Braden approved! He has been an outspoken critic of other vegan ice creams, which is how you know this one is great!

RubySnap Fresh Cookies
@hayleytaggart
Want to try a local cookie with unique flavors? Then this place is for you! It is female owned and all the cookies have their own names! My favorite is the Lola (lemon explosion) and Braden is a sucker for Margo (chocolate cinnamon with a gooey inside)

Templin Family Brewing
@hayleytaggart
If you are looking for a spot where the locals hang out, this is the place. Even though it is one of the newer breweries, they have a great selection of German style beer.  What to try: Their Pomberry and Pineapple flavored beers are not that bad! For a more authentic German drink, try their Radler. Half beer and half lemon soda it is easy to drink The pretzels are fantastic! So be sure to grab some buddies and play one of the provided board games for a more relaxed vibe.

Bohemian Brewery
@hayleytaggart
The best thing about this place is the food. It is one of my favorite brunches of all time. With German beerhouse vibes and nice staff, it is a great place to get a hearty meal after hiking all morning.  What to try: Braden’s favorite is the Viennese Amber Lager (but I usually just have a latte) Their garlic fries are to die for! Honestly, I have never disliked food that we ordered. So order what you want!

Grid City Beer Works
@hayleytaggart
Opening in December 2019 and then surviving a global pandemic shows how good this place is. I was first drawn in by their extensive vegan selection but there are offerings for everyone! They are known for doing three beers three ways. Try a flight and taste the differences! What to try:nMilk shot (it’s beer that is specially foamed up) Their seltzers are the best I have ever had!
