Make Reservations
Especially for breakfast and brunch the restaurants can be very crowded. To ensure a table, it's better to make a reservation. You can do that easily by calling the, directly.
How to get around
We highly recommend a hotel in the city. So you can walk the city very easy. Otherwise Augsburg offers a good public transportation system with a metro and busses. You can buy the tickets on the ticket machines, online or within the app. A day ticket gives you the best flexibility.
Personal note: Compared to other cities, we experienced the public transportation in Augsburg very expensive (e.g. a day ticket costs 8.20€, Sept. 2023). If you choose the accomondation wisely, you really won't need it.
Breakfast and Brunch locations in the heart of the city
That are oure personal favorites. We add a personal note to each of them, so you get a deeper impression of the location beforehand. Our recommendations are neither budget nor high end choices, they should be affordable and allright for a city trip.
They offer a great and fancy breakfast selection from savory to sweet.
The restaurant is very cozy and they don't have a lot of tables, so better make a reservation.
We like the coffee and the specialty lattes here. Highly recommended!
They started as a yogurth bar but also offer a delicious variety of breakfast. We love the oriental choices, they offer.
The best thing you can do to, share a savory meal and a yogurth.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is really nice (big windows ensure lots of light), the service always friendly and the meals are delicious and modern.
Reservation is a must.
Important to know: They don't offer outside seatings.
Picnic is a good allday restaurant which offers a very good breakfast and brunch variety, too.
You can sit either outside or inside. If you choose to have a table upstairs, you have to order at the counter, it's selfservice. All other tables are serviced.
On weekends it's quite busy here, so better make a reservation before you go.
The meals are good and usually you don't wait too long for the meals.
It's not our favorite place to go, as the prices rose immense the last years,
Huge Restaurant that offers more traditional food and breakfast. They have a big menu so you can easily get overwhelmed.
Breakfast is served all day long.
They don't open every day for breajfast, so check their opening hours.
We like the dinner options here and to be honest, never been there for breakfast. But it's our secret tipp for restaurant, so we had to add it to this guide also.
It's an inclusion cafe, so worth the support. Expect slower service. But they are lovely.

Vegan Breakfast and Brunch locations
Even though some of the other restaurants listed also offer vegan dishes, we also have excellent vegan restaurants in Augsburg that specialise in this.
Small, cute and VEGAN cafe in Augsburg.
The quality is very good.
Besides the small menue they offer a good selection of vegan cakes, that are just awesome.
They offered buffet on weekends in the past but we stopped with C. We are not sure if they started it afterwards. Better ask them.
Next to the St. Ulrichs church is this little gem. It's a vegan cafè and we love it. One of our favorite places. The coffee and the specialty lattes are awesome.
We also love the burgers (maybe not for breakfast, but worth it to come a 2nd time).

Bakeries that also offer breakfast options
There are some bakery chains, you will recognize in different places in Augsburg. Some locations offers breakfast choices as well. We rather prefer the restaurants as they are usually more cozy and have better options (like bowls, specialty lattes, yes we like the fancy stuff!), but for a good breakfast, we can recommend you the following bakerys:
+ Wolf
+ Balletshofer
Please avoid: IhleThis is the cheapest bakery but the quality is really not good! Trust us. We have insights in the manufacturing process and we never bought there something.
If you have a car. THIS is the place to be.
Our longterm favorite.
The atmosphere there is stunning.
The breakfast the best.
Our recommendation: Take some slices of cake with you after the breakfast. They are the best, you've ever tried
It's more known for their lunch and dinner, but you can also have a good breakfast here.
This is a restarant for early birds. They have a large seating area and the food is quite ok.
It's better to have a car here. The public transportation is not so good.
That's the most family friendly restaurant, we know.
You order your food at the counter and get it delivered to your table.
Usually they have a bread buffet with a huge choice of different breads.

You don't know, where to sleep? Here are our recommendations
Hey,
nice to have you here. We are Diana and Dieter, German content creators, that travel around the world. For our experiences we focus on a balance of pleasure and adventure. We love hiking, food, good restaurants, cozy accomodations and being in nature. That's why we are really good in giving recommendations about destinations, we've been already.
Since we met long time ago, we love to travel around the world. We are experts in roadtrips, as we usually get our own car (or camper or 4WD) to explore the country. We love independent traveling to get the authentic and real experiences.
We recently fall in love with New Zealand. We spent 5 months there and saw each corner of the beautiful islands. Our tips and knowledge for NZ is based on Kiwi travels experience of 30 years, so real insiders. :)
Even though we have travelled a lot, we are not experts everywhere, but we are for these destinations. Here we can provide you with real added value:
- New Zealand
- Western Australia with a 4WD (when you are a newbie in the 4WD game)
- London
- Augsburg (our hometown for many many years)
- London
- Schottland
- South Africa
- Crete
- Japan
