Visit Siargao

Visit Siargao

On my last visit to the Philippines, my top discovery was Siargao. This place is my number one place in my Philippines top 10, and it's an incredible island.

Getting here

Siargao is a little bit off the beaten path, but you can access it from Cebu by ferry, or you can fly directly there. I think Cebu Pacific flies there daily.

You can also fly directly from Manila because it's definitely an up-and-coming destination, so some major airlines are starting to fly there directly from Manila.

To fit this into your itinerary, I can see you starting off in Manila, because everyone will. Then you can fly directly from Manila using Cebu Pacific to Siargao. I'd recommend spending four days in Siagao, and then you could either take a boat, which will be cheaper, but will take more time, or take a plane, which won't be that much more expensive to Cebu. From there, you could start my Cebu itinerary.

This is one of the notable sights in Siargao. It's basically a pool made out of rock. When the tide goes out, it's left with the water from the high tide. It's beautifully blue, and is a cool place to relax and swim.

Surfing

For Beginners

If you're going to Siargao, you have to go surfing. It's known as Cloud Nine, and is the surf capital of the Philippines. I highly recommend renting a board and learning to surf.

This was the best surfing I've ever done. There was no coral or barnacles, just nice sand that I could stand on, which made it a great learning environment The waves weren't very big. There were enough people around, but I was still able to maneuver myself around them, even as a beginner. I highly recommend taking this as an opportunity, if you're a brand new surfer.

Intermediate to Expert

There are different areas on the island that can serve more expert surfers. This place is called Cloud Nine for a reason. Surfing is a must while visiting Siargao.

The Vibe

You'll find cool surf cabanas, awesome little restaurants, and places you can get acai bowls. It has a local culture, but there's also a tourist influence here. I love it because it means I can get a nice meal and find a hotel, probably still not with good internet, but your accommodations will be comfortable.

Let's get lost in the next one...✌️
