Typical Roman Food
Carbonara
This is the main roman plate: CARBONARA! And it's the original one, be careful romans are strictly attached with this plate made specifically with these ingredients: Guanciale, Pecorino, Black Pepper and Egg yolk! Nothing else, nothing more!
Supplì al telefono
Made with rice, tomato sauce and mozzarella! One of the best things with the Pizza.
The name "al telefono", literally "on the phone", comes from the mozzarella which it extends as the old home phones!
Cacio e Pepe
It belongs to the "Trinity" of the roman plates! It just has two ingredients: Black pepper and pecorino
Amatriciana
It's the third of the "Trinity" with the Carbonara and Cacio e Pepe!
Maritozzo
"Maritozzo" comes from "marito", the Italian word for husband. During the 19th century the maritozzo had a curious tradition: men would propose by presenting their future brides with an engagement ring hidden inside a maritozzo.
Transportation
Rome is well equipped with the means of transport!
You can go around Rome both by bus or by metro, but if you love to walk, this is your time to shine!
Traffic
I suggest you to NOT go around by car: there too much traffic, there are ZTL everywhere at the city center and you won't be able to find a proper parking there.
For the same reason, sometimes is better to walk rather than to be stuck on the traffic!
It depends on the time: the rush hours are in the morning from 7.30-9.00, lunch time 12.00-14.00 and evening time 18.00-20.00!
Ticket’s fees
Rome is covered by the metro! Metro A is for the city center, Metro B is most for office’s places and Metro C is to link the cities outside Rome to Rome.
BIT: valid for 90 minutes;
ROMA24H: valid for 24 hours;
ROMA48H: valid for 48 hours;
ROMA72H: valid for 72 hours.
